2-(Arylimino-methyl)-3-dialkylaminoacrylonitriles can be obtained by reaction of .beta.-anilino-acrylonitriles with ortho-formamides. They are suitable as starting substances for the preparation of 4-amino-5-iminiummethylene-2-pyrimidines or 4-amino-5-formyl-2-pyrimidines.

5-Hydroxymethylthiazole is prepared in an improved manner by reducing 5-formylthiazole using a borane compound. Particularly advantageous in this case is the use of 5-formylthiazole which has been obtained by reaction of a 2-halomalonaldehyde compound with thioformamide in the presence of less than 5% by weight of water (based on the reaction mixture).

The present invention relates to substituted 1,2,5-oxadiazole compounds of the formula (I) and the N-oxides and salts thereof and to compositions comprising the same. The invention also relates to the use of the 1,2,5-oxadiazole compounds or of the compositions comprising such compounds for controlling unwanted vegetation. Furthermore, the invention relates to methods of applying such compounds.

The plunger may be moved between two mechanical end positions, wherein the end positions of the plunger correspond to the switch states of the electromagnetic switch device. A sensor device is arranged in the housing by which it may be recorded in which of the end positions the plunger is and from which a corresponding electrical signal may be emitted. The sensor device is designed to be able to record the position of the plunger without contacting the plunger.

The title compounds of the formula ##STR1## can be prepared by cyclization of aminomethylenated 2-pentenoic acid derivatives of the formula ##STR2## where R, X, R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and Z have the meaning given in the description,in the presence of acids or ammonia. Preferably, aminomethylenated pentenoic acid derivatives are employed which can be prepared from pentenoic acid derivatives of the formulaR--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.dbd.CH--Z (III)orR--CH.sub.2 --CH.dbd.CH--CH.sub.2 --Z (IV)with ortho-amides of the formula ##STR3## The meanings of A and B are also given in the description.

A molding composition which is essentially composed of a mixture of at least two polymers based on vinyl chloride and at least one water-soluble surfactant is described. One of the polymers is a sinterable vinyl chloride/alkyl acrylate copolymer which can contain, in addition, polymerized units of vinyl acetate and ethylene. At least one further polymer is a vinyl chloride polymer which can contain up to 5% by weight of polymerized units of vinyl acetate and ethylene. The molding composition is suitable for the production of sintered, porous, flexible moldings, in particular separator compartments for electric cells.
