Abstract: Examples described herein provide multi-band directional scanning. Examples may include receiving, by a first radio of a first network device operating at a first frequency band below the millimeter-wave (mmWave), a probe request from a second network device indicating a protocol and a particular sector receiving direction of the second network device, and in response to the protocol indicated by the probe request, transmitting, by a second radio of the first network device operating at a second frequency band within the mmWave, a probe response in each of one or more sector transmitting directions, wherein the second network device receives one or more probe responses in the particular sector receiving direction.

Abstract: In embodiments of the present disclosure, a method is provided for managing a communication channel between a first communication unit and a second communication unit in an AP. At the first communication unit, a request is transmitted to the second communication unit for reserving a communication channel. Here, the second communication unit is associated with a Wi-Fi network that is different from a network type associated with the first communication unit, and the first and second communication units share a band of the communication channel. A response for reserving the communication channel is received from the second communication unit. In accordance with a determination that the response indicates the communication channel has been reserved for a time duration, data is transmitted at the first communication unit within the time duration on the communication channel. Therefore, conflicts between the first and second communication units in the AP may be reduced.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to variable antenna patterns. Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to automatic antenna beam alignment. A method comprises determining first position-related information indicating a first location and a first orientation of a first communication device. The first communication device comprises a plurality of antenna sectors configured for generating respective directional beams. The method also comprises receiving, from a second communication device, second position-related information indicating a second location and a second orientation of the second communication device. The method also further comprises selecting a subset of the plurality of antenna sectors based on the first and the second position-related information; and causing the first communication device to perform beamforming training with the second communication device using the selected subset of antenna sectors. A decreased number of antenna sectors are scanned during the beamforming training, which can reduce the time overhead and facilitate the devices to find the best beam efficiently.

Abstract: In embodiments of the present disclosure, a method is provided for managing an AP position for an access point. In the method, a magnetic distribution map is obtained for an indoor area, the magnetic distribution map representing a plurality of reference magnetic values that are collected at a plurality of reference positions in the indoor area. A plurality of magnetic measurements are received, here the plurality of magnetic measurements are respectively collected at a plurality of access point (AP) positions at which a plurality of APs are deployed within the indoor area, and the plurality of AP positions are unknown. The plurality of AP positions are mapped to a portion of the plurality of reference positions based on the plurality of magnetic measurements and the plurality of reference magnetic values. The plurality of AP positions are determined based on the portion of the plurality of reference positions. Therefore. AP positions may be determined accurately and effectively in an indoor environment.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an antenna assembly, an apparatus including the antenna assembly, and a method. The antenna assembly comprises a first antenna element configured to communicate radio frequency (RF) signals with a first radiation pattern and a second antenna element configured to communicate RF signals with a second radiation pattern. A first vertical direction of the first radiation pattern is different from a second vertical direction of the second radiation pattern. The antenna assembly further includes a switch element configured to selectively connect the first or second antenna element to a RF circuit for processing of the RF signals to adapt to a mounting position of the antenna assembly. With such an antenna assembly assembling different antenna elements with different radiation patterns, the device can be flexibly mounted anywhere as needed, with low design and manufacturing costs and good signal coverage.
