Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatus, and computer-readable media (transitory or non-transitory) are described herein for inferring psychological states. In various examples, data indicative of a measured affect of an individual may be processed using a regression model to determine a coordinate in a continuous space. The continuous space may be indexed based on a plurality of discrete psychological labels. In a first context, the coordinate in the continuous space may be mapped to one of a first set of the discrete psychological labels associated with the first context. In a second context, the coordinate in the continuous space may be mapped to one of a second set of the discrete psychological labels associated with the second context.

Abstract: Audio signal dereverberation can be carried out in accordance instructions on a machine readable storage medium, using a processor. In an example, a location of a person in a room can be determined. An audio signal received from the location of the person can be captured using beamforming. Room properties can be determined based in part on a signal sweep of the room. A dereverberation parameter can be determined based in part on the location of the person and the room properties. The dereverberation parameter can be applied to the audio signal.

Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium on which is stored instructions that the processor may execute to access an audio signal captured by a microphone of a user's speech while the microphone is in a muted state. The processor may also execute the instructions to analyze a spectral or frequency content of the accessed audio signal to determine whether the user was facing the microphone while the user spoke. In addition, based on a determination that the user was facing the microphone while the user spoke, the processor may execute the instructions to unmute the microphone.

Abstract: In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of microphones to record background sounds, a noise cancellation component to generate an inverted signal to negate the background sounds from an output signal, a memory to store sound patterns associated with known events, a speaker to output the output signal, and a processor. The processor is to compare a background sound of the background sounds to sound patterns stored in the memory, detect an event when the background sound matches a sound pattern and is coming from behind a user, and execute a corrective action to the output signal in response to the event being detected and the background sound coming from behind the user.

Abstract: Examples are described herein for determining aggregate psychological states of multiple individuals. In various examples, sensor data indicative of affects of multiple individuals may be analyzed. Based on the analyzing, the multiple individuals may be partitioned into multiple distinct clusters of individuals. An aggregate psychological state of the individuals of a given cluster of the multiple distinct clusters of individuals may be determined. Data indicative of the aggregate psychological state may be transmitted to cause a computing device to render output that conveys the aggregate psychological state of the individuals of the cluster.

Abstract: In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes an adaptive filter and a double talk detector in communication with the adaptive filter. The adaptive filter is to calculate a transfer function with coefficients for a particular time that is applied to an output signal of a microphone to cancel echoes caused by a reference signal in the output signal of the microphone. The double talk detector is to determine a peak of the coefficients, detect double talk based on a location of the peak of the coefficients, and transmit a pause signal to the adaptive filter in response to detection of the double talk, wherein the pause signal is to pause a calculation of updates to the coefficients by the adaptive filter.
