    摘要: This invention is intended to control the amount of power to be supplied to a fusing heater below a maximum applicable current value. The engine controller supplies electricity to both of two heating bodies at the same fixed duty D1. At a phase angle α1 corresponding to the fixed duty D1, pulse signals ON1 and ON2 are issued in response to a ZEROX signal as a trigger. A current value I1 is detected based on a HCRRT signal from the current detection circuit. The engine controller calculates an upper limit of applicable power duty Dlimit based on the detected current value I1, the fixed duty D1 and the preset applicable current value Ilimit. Then, a PI temperature control is performed at a duty below the upper limit duty Dlimit.

    摘要: In an image forming apparatus having a toner container, the remaining amount of toner is detected by measuring a capacitance caused by a toner detector member in the toner container. It is determined whether the measured capacitance falls within a predetermined range. If it is determined that the measured capacitance falls not within the predetermined range, the measured capacitance is not used in the detection of the remaining amount of toner. The present invention thus provides an image forming apparatus reliable in the detection of toner, and a method of controlling the apparatus.

Before the recording material reaches the second conveying unit, the second controller maintains a first conveying speed, and after the recording material reaches the second convey unit, maintains a second conveying speed determined by the first control unit.

    摘要: Detachable sheet feeding units are connected to an image forming apparatus. A transmitting unit transmits a feeding instruction via a signal line to a sheet feeding unit that is to perform sheet feeding. A first sheet detector, which is placed in the sheet feeding unit, detects a sheet that has been fed from the sheet feeding unit. A second sheet detector is provided downstream of the first sheet detector in terms of the sheet conveyance direction. If the feeding instruction is transmitted and a plurality of sheets are fed from the sheet feeding unit, an image formation controller determines whether to cause the image forming operation to continue or stop based upon whether a sheet-to-sheet interval of a plurality of sheets has been detected by the second sheet detector in a state in which the result of detection by the first sheet detector indicates presence of a sheet.

    摘要: A period of a first edge, a voltage change in a first direction of a first pulse signal fed from a zero-crossing detecting circuit, is detected. A second edge, a voltage change in a second direction opposite to the first direction, is generated when a time period equal to half the period of the first edge has elapsed from the next first edge. In response to a second pulse signal generated from the first and second edges, phase control of power to be supplied to heating elements is performed by using triacs. In this manner, during power control using a signal from the zero-crossing detecting circuit as a trigger signal, is achieved stable power control which enables tracking even though the power supply frequency fluctuates, and which is impervious to the effect of the positive or negative polarity of an input power supply.
