摘要： A printing apparatus includes a head which discharges color inks and into which clear ink that prevents the head from being clogged and white ink are selectively filled. A selection portion communicates either of a white or a clear ink container with the head. A controller executes a first switching from a second filled state where the head is filled with clear ink to a first filled state where the head is filled with white ink by shifting from a state where the clear ink container is communicated with the head to a state where the white ink container is communicated with the head. A second switching is executed from the first filled state to the second filled state by shifting from a state where the white ink container is communicated with the head to a state where the clear ink container is communicated with the head.

摘要： A personal authentication method is provided for authenticating a user by cross-relation between an enrolled image and a verification image of biometric information of the user. Upon registration of the biometric information, the method generates a filter for scrambling the image and an inverse filter thereof, and applies the filter to the enrolled image generated from the biometric information to generate a registration template which is then stored to a memory. Upon authentication of the user, the method applies the inverse filter to the verification image generated from the biometric information collected from the user, and then verifies the identity of the user based on cross-relation between the verification image after application of the inverse filter and the registration template.

摘要： In the client, a feature quantity extraction unit extracts a feature quantity from biometric information of a user. A feature quantity conversion unit converts the feature quantity by a one-time parameter. In the first server, a parameter DB stores a parameter in association with the ID. A data generation unit generates data based on the parameter corresponding to the ID transmitted from the client. In the second server, a template DB stores a template to which the feature quantity of the biometric information of the user is converted by the parameter, in association with the ID. A template conversion unit generates a one-time template by converting the template corresponding to the ID transmitted from the first server. Then, a match determination unit compares the converted feature quantity transmitted from the client or the data transmitted from the first server with the one-time template to determine whether they match or not.

摘要： The invention relates to a thermal head which comprises: a plurality of heating elements arranged at regular intervals on the top surface of an electrically insulating substrate; a common electrode connected to one ends of the respective heating elements; a plurality of discrete lead wires connected to the other ends of the respective heating elements and led out in directions at predetermined angles with respect to the direction of arrangement of the heating elements; and driving IC including a plurality of connecting pads arranged nearly parallel with the direction of arrangement of the heating elements and with intervals smaller than the intervals of arrangement of the heating elements, the connecting pads connected to lead-out sections of the discrete lead wires, wherein the connecting pads of the driving IC are arranged with intervals between the neighboring connecting pads which vary depending on the sine values of angles between the direction of arrangement of the heating elements and the lead-out directions of the respective discrete lead wires.

摘要： In an electronic flash unit, a voltage applying device is provided to apply a predetermined voltage to the gate of an insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), connected in series with a flash tube, for controlling the light-emission operation of the flash tube. The voltage applying device produces the predetermined voltage in response to the start of the operation of a DC high voltage power source. Thus, the voltage applying device applies a driving voltage to the gate of the IGBT without responding to a light-emission command signal. The IGBT enters a conduction standby state in response to the start of the operation of the DC high voltage power source, and is placed in a fully `on` state when a trigger circuit is operated by the light-emission command signal. The driving voltage can be applied to the gate in a very simple arrangement which does not require to respond to the trigger signal.

The client corrects the feature data array for authentication using the position correction amount and transmits the converted feature data array for comparison to the server. The server calculates a distance between the comparison template and the converted feature data array for comparison and determines success or failure of the authentication on the basis of the distance.

A tip of the slope is positioned within a space covered by a trigger electrode coated on an outer surface of the discharge lamp in a limited area with respect to the entire circumference of a bulb of the lamp.
