摘要: An image processing apparatus in which the amount of data bits for each of plural block units is controlled to be the same for all block units, so as to facilitate location of each block unit in coded image data without necessarily decoding the entire image. Pixel image data which is formable into plural block units is input for each block unit, and the input image data is orthogonally transformed. The orthogonally-transformed image data is quantized, and variable-length coding is performed on the quantized image data so as to generate variable-length code. The amount of variable length code in each block unit is controlled to be no more than a predetermined amount of data bits, with the predetermined amount being the same for each block unit.

摘要: In an image processing method, image information described by a page descriptor language is developed by the page descriptor language into a form not pasted with to-be-pasted image information, without reading out, for image development, the to-be-pasted image information from a unit for storing the to-be-pasted image information. The image information in the form not pasted with the to-be-pasted image information and the to-be-pasted image information are separately transmitted to a printer. The image information in the form not pasted with the to-be-pasted image information is compressed by reversible coding. The to-be-pasted information is compressed by irreversible coding.

摘要: This invention relates to an image encoding method and apparatus, and particularly has as its object to satisfactorily control the amount of encoded image data. In order to achieve this object, according to this invention, there is disclosed a technique for sequentially controlling the code amounts in accordance with accumulated code amount information and accumulated encoded area information, so that variable-length codes of an image fall within a predetermined memory capacity in a single pass. More specifically, in an image processing apparatus having a compression processor (15) for compressing input image information, and a memory (16) for storing encoded data by the compression processor (15), a code amount controller (14) calculates a reference code amount on the basis of the input image information, and controls the encoding condition of the compression processor (15) on the basis of the calculated reference code amount.

摘要: A data transmission system discriminates, for each one of a plurality of pieces of data representing an image provided in a frame, whether the one piece of data is a first type of data, which is to be developed into bit map data in a bit map area corresponding to the frame, or a second type of data, which is not to be developed into bit map data. The first type of data is developed into bit map data in the bit map area in response to the discrimination. Layout information of the second type of data in the frame is generated such that variation or rotation of the developed bit map data can be directed in the layout information. The developed bit map data, the generated layout information, and the second type of data are transmitted separately to an external apparatus.

摘要: An image encoding apparatus of this invention extracts a character/line image from a multi-value image, and substitutes image information corresponding to the extracted character/line image with substitution data based on the image information. Thereafter, the apparatus encodes the image information corresponding to the character/line image, and the remaining image information by different methods, thereby performing efficient image encoding while preserving quality of a character/line image in a multi-value image.

摘要: The present invention reduces an uneven color of a color having two or more colors of inks, the uneven color occurring due to manufacturing variations of ink ejection nozzles and so on. Each of a plurality of correction tables that is assigned to each predetermined number of nozzles that are used for printing on a common region in the print medium, of a plurality of nozzle arrays formed on a print head, each of the nozzle arrays ejecting a plurality of inks including a first ink and a second ink whose color is different from the color of the first ink, is generated on the basis of at least an ink ejection property of nozzles ejecting the first and second inks.
