    摘要: A magneto-optical recording medium includes a magneto-optical layer, a reflection layer and an inorganic dielectric layer interposed therebetween. The dielectric layer is extremely thin so that it will exhibit almost no optical effect, thereby allowing a high CN ratio to be obtained. Thermal conductivity of the dielectric layer is so low that the magneto-optical and reflection layers are thermally isolated from each other. That is, if refractive index of the dielectric layer is n, thickness of the dielectric layer is T (nm), and the thermal conductivity of the dielectric layer is C (J (m sec K).sup.-1), then the thickness T is set within a range that satisfies the following equation:5n-4.ltoreq.T.ltoreq.(12n-4)(C/2.1).sup.-0.4where C.ltoreq.4J (m sec K).sup.-1.

    摘要: A method of making a stamper uses a photoresist disk cut by the application of a laser beam on the land planes thereof, or a stamper which is different in depth between the land plane on the internal peripheral side with respect to the prepit portion and the land plane on the external peripheral side. A method of making an optical disk substrate includes the steps of using a stamper, and molding a transparent plastic material with an injection molding method. A stamper capable of sufficiently transferring the prepits and guide grooves on the optical disk substrate with the correction of right and left inequality of the prepits, and the method of making it, and a superior optical disk substrate and a method of making it can be realized.

    摘要: An optical disk of the present invention includes a substrate and a recording layer disposed above the substrate, and reproduces an information signal by a DWDD system, using light incident from the substrate side. The optical disk further includes a first dielectric layer disposed between the substrate and the recording layer and a second dielectric layer disposed on the recording layer opposite to the substrate, wherein the recording layer is initialized with light having a wavelength λ incident from the second dielectric layer side, and the thickness of the second dielectric layer is in a range of λ/(12×n) to λ/(2×n) (where n is a refractive index of the second dielectric layer).
