    摘要: A stepping motor according to the present invention comprises a cylindrical permanent magnet on whose outer periphery N and S poles are alternately polarized, a rotatably-supported rotor, a plurality of stator cores having pole teeth arranged so as to face the permanent magnet, an exciting coil for rotating the rotor when the coil is turned on, and at least two protruded teeth serving as auxiliary poles which face the cylindrical surface of the permanent magnet so as to generate a detent torque when it is magnetized by the permanent magnet.     摘要: A shock absorber which selectively produces different magnitudes of damping forces includes a cylinder and a piston slidably disposed in the cylinder and dividing an interior space of the cylinder into first and second fluid chambers filled with a fluid. A housing assembly coupled to the piston has a main fluid passage providing fluid communication between the first and second fluid chambers at all times and an auxiliary fluid passage providing selective fluid communication between the first and second fluid chambers. The auxiliary fluid passage can be opened to provide fluid communication between the first and second fluid chamber in response to an external control signal. The auxiliary fluid passage can be closed to cut off fluid communication between the first and second fluid chambers when the speed of relative movement of the cylinder and the piston is substantially zero, i.e., when the speed of expansion and contraction of the shock absorber is substantially zero.

    摘要: A biometrics authentication device which detects body characteristics, performs verification against registered biometrics data, and performs individual authentication, by which confidentiality is improved even when biometrics data is separated, distributed and stored. A biometrics information key is created from biometrics data detected by a detection device, the biometrics data is divided into a plurality of portions, and the portions are stored on different media. The biometrics information key is stored on one media, and at the time of authentication, the separated biometrics data portions are combined and a biometrics information key is created and is compared with the biometrics information key, to judge the linked relationship. Hence confidentiality of the association of the individual separated data portions can be improved even when the biometrics data is separated, distributed and stored, contributing to prevent illicit use resulting from leakage or theft of biometrics data.

    摘要: Ultrasonic waves are transmitted from an ultrasonic transmitter mounted on a vehicle towards a road surface. An ultrasonic receiver mounted on the vehicle receives ultrasonic waves reflected from the road surface and generates a signal which is amplified by an amplifier. The amplified signal is compared with a reference signal to detect components in the amplified signal due to obstacles on the road surface. The magnitude of the reference signal and/or the amplification factor of the amplifier is controlled to maintain a constant ratio between the average of the reference signal and the average of the amplified signal.

    摘要: An accelerometer for automobiles is disclosed which is mounted on an electrically insulating plate (i.e., a printed circuit board) accommodated within an electrically conductive casing. The electrical connections from the electrodes of the piezoelectric element to the inputs of the charge amplifier are effected by a wiring pattern formed on the insulating plate. The casing consists of an open box-shaped base and a plate-shaped cover, a packing member being interposed therebetween, wherein an electrical connection between the base and the cover is provided by the fixing screws for fixing the cover to the base. The cover has a central recess in which through-type capacitors for producing hermetically sealed electrical connections through a wall of the casing are accommodated. Further, the charge amplifier comprises a temperature compensating capacitor having a positive temperature coefficient of capacitance which is coupled across the electrodes of the piezoelectric element; thus, the variation of the output voltage due to the change in the ambient temperature is compensated for by the capacitor and hence is reduced.
