    摘要: Provided is a switching liquid crystal panel and a display device that have novel structures that are capable of preventing luminous regions from appearing in the light transmitting parts, in the vicinities of boundaries thereof with the light shielding parts. The switching liquid crystal panel includes a pair of substrates (26a, 26b) having a twisted nematic type liquid crystal layer (24) interposed therebetween, and a plurality of light shield forming electrodes (30) that are formed on at least one of the pair of the substrates (26a, 26b) and that form light shielding parts (40) of a parallax barrier (16) in cooperation with a counter electrode (34) when a voltage is applied, the counter electrode (34) being is opposed to the light shield forming electrodes (30) with the liquid crystal layer (24) interposed therebetween. A rubbing direction for an alignment film (36a) provided on the substrate (26a) side on which the light shield forming electrodes (30) are formed is at an angle of 45° or less to a lengthwise direction of the light shield forming electrodes (30).

    摘要: An ATM of the present invention includes a liquid crystal display panel having, between two transparent substrates, (i) an image forming layer including at least a liquid crystal layer and a pixel section in which RGB pixels are arranged in a matrix manner, and (ii) a plurality of barriers (16) for splitting a display image formed by the image forming layer into a plurality of images each having a specific viewing angle. The plurality of barriers are provided so as to face the image forming layer. The plurality of barriers (16) are extended in a horizontal direction (lateral direction) parallel to the surfaces of the transparent substrates, and provided at substantially regular intervals in a direction perpendicular to the horizontal direction, parallel to the surfaces of the transparent substrates (i.e., in a longitudinal direction). This makes it possible to provide an ATM that prevents a peep at private information such as a secret number without giving, whichever direction a display is viewed, a false recognition that the display is in a resting state.

The display apparatus of the present invention is a display apparatus provided with a display panel including a plurality of pixel areas, a parallax barrier disposed on one side of the display panel, and a lenticular lens disposed on the other side of the display panel. The parallax barrier is provided with a light-blocking sections and a light-transmitting section along a row direction or a column direction of the pixel areas. The lenticular lens includes a plurality of cylindrical lenses arrayed in the row direction or the column direction of the pixel areas. The array direction of the light-blocking sections and the light-transmitting sections is perpendicular to the array direction of the cylindrical lenses.

    摘要: A display section of a portable phone includes a first polarizer, a switching panel section, a reflective polarizer, and a main panel section. The switching panel section has a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of regions having at least two different alignment directions. This makes it possible, by utilizing the difference in the alignment direction of the liquid crystal layer, to make the image difficult to observe by a sight-line from an oblique direction. Furthermore, it is also possible, by utilizing the mirror-surface displaying caused by the reflective polarizer, to make the image significantly difficult to observe.

    摘要: In a parallax barrier DV (Dual View) display apparatus, a TN (Twisted Nematic) liquid crystal display panel is adopted as a display device for display images. The TN liquid crystal display panel includes a pair of opposing substrates, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched therebetween, orientation films arranged to orient liquid crystal molecules constituting the liquid crystal layer, and electrodes arranged to independently apply electric fields to areas of the liquid crystal layer which correspond to respective pixels. The orientation films are oriented in such a manner that liquid crystal molecules in the aforesaid areas are oriented so that display directions of the pixels are parallel or substantially parallel to a viewing angle direction. This arrangement improves image separation capability in all display directions, in a DV (Dual View) display apparatus displaying different images in respective display directions, by a single display screen.

A barrier light-shielding part and a light-transmitting part are formed in a gap between the pair of transparent-electrode substrates. A liquid crystal layer is formed in the barrier light-shielding part. A resin layer having the property of transmitting light is formed in the light-transmitting part. The barrier light-shielding part separates light for a first image viewed from a first direction and light for a second image viewed from a second direction different from the first direction. The light-transmitting part transmits the light for the first image and the light for the second image.

    摘要: An arrangement with a shared polarizer disposed between two panels capable of displaying a 3D image using parallax barrier techniques is provided, where the quality of a displayed 3D image is prevented from decreasing due to the left-right imbalance in contrast ratio. The arrangement includes: a main panel; a switch panel for displaying a slit image serving as a parallax barrier; a polarizer located closer to the viewed side of the main panel; a polarizer located between the main panel and the switch panel; and a polarizer located closer to the side of the switch panel opposite the side closer to the main panel. The direction of rubbing for one of the alignment films of the switch panel is at an angle relative to the absorption axis of one of the polarizers such that a contrast ratio within a view range of the left and right eyes is equal to or higher than a reference value, the contrast ratio being measured on a visual line corresponding to the transmission axis of one of the polarizers.
