The collimator lens is configured such that the wavelength of the light from the laser device is equal to or longer than 375 nm and equal to or shorter than 750 nm, the numerical aperture is equal to or larger than 0.2 and equal to or smaller than 0.75, and both conditions of “D/f>0.85 assuming that the lens thickness is D and the focal distance is f” and “νd>57 assuming that the Abbe number is νd” are satisfied.

    摘要: A magnetic head device includes a slider with a facing side and a magnetic function part. The facing side of the slider includes a front positive pressure surface located close to a leading end of the slider, a rear positive pressure surface located close to a trailing end of the slider, and a pair of side positive pressure surfaces located closer to the trailing end than the front positive pressure surface and disposed at both sides of a longitudinally extending centerline. Air inlet grooves for introducing air into the side positive pressure surfaces are each disposed in front of each side positive pressure surface. Each air inlet groove extends between the front positive pressure surface and a corresponding side face of the slider and opens toward a leading end face of the slider.

    摘要: A magnetic head apparatus including a magnetic head slider having an overall front half region area (S) and a step surface area (S1) and a positive-pressure generating surface area (S2) both in the front half region, such that the area ratio S1/S is about 0.180 to about 0.232 and the area ratio S1/S2 is about 0.30 to about 0.47. With this arrangement a difference in pitch angles of the magnetic head slider at the moment when it is just levitated and during levitation is large, and a variation of the pitch angle due to a pressure change is small, thereby preventing damage to a magnetic element within the magnetic head slider while achieving a stable levitation attitude of the magnetic head slider.

    摘要: In a detection and ranging apparatus that performs direction-of-arrival estimation using a sensor array and that enlarges an effective aperture using a plurality of transmitting sensors, adverse effects associated with time division switching are eliminated, achieving high-accuracy measurement. A transmitter wave is spread in modulators by using mutually orthogonal codes, and the resulting transmitter waves are radiated from two transmitting sensors. Signals received by receiving sensors are each split by a splitter into two parts, which are then respectively despread in a demodulator by using the same codes as those used in the transmitter.

Two side pads are formed at both ends in the direction of the width at positions closer to a leading side than the center pad is located. A total value of the areas of the recording medium opposing surfaces of the two side pads is set to be larger than a value of the area of the recording medium opposing surface of the center pad. Each of the side pads has, at the leading side, a front stepped surface that is lower than the remaining portion.

    摘要: A magnetic head device floats above a surface of a rotating recording medium due to airflow. A front positive-pressure surface is formed in the leading side of an opposed surface of a slider, and a rear positive-pressure surface is formed in the trailing side. A front edge portion of the rear positive-pressure surface has a shape recessed toward the trailing side, and a concave portion is formed from the front edge portion toward the magnetic functional unit. Airflow flowing between the slider and the recording medium is concentrated in the rear of the concave portion. When the magnetic functional unit emits heat and thus a portion projects toward the recording medium, a decrease in the floating distance of the magnetic functional unit can be counteracted by the local positive pressure of the airflow concentrated locally.

    摘要: A slider of a magnetic head device has a side that faces a recording medium and on which a first positive pressure is exerted on the leading side and a second positive pressure is exerted on the trailing side. In the area between the first positive pressure area and the second positive pressure area, a small second negative pressure is created at the front, a first negative pressure larger than the second negative pressure is created at the rear, and a third positive pressure is exerted on both sides of the first negative pressure area. When air density decreases, the small second negative pressure in a middle area and the large first negative pressure at the rear of the second negative pressure area stabilize the pitch angle of the slider and prevent an excessive decrease in the flying distance of a trailing end portion.
