Coinjection stretch blow molded containers containing thermoplastic polyester resin and an EVOH resin are obtained, which have greatly improved impact delamination resistance. The containers comprise a thermoplastic polyester layer (layer a) and an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer layer (layer b), with the layer a being kept in direct contact with the both surfaces of the layer b, wherein the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer satisfies the following formulae (1) and (2) and its differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) gives a single peak f or crystal fusion: 25≦ETb≦48 (1) 92≦SDb≦99 (2) wherein ETb indicates the ethylene content (mol %) of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and SDb indicates the degree of saponification (%) of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer.

The present invention provides a process for producing pellet of EVOH comprising the steps of introducing an EVOH solution containing alcohol into an apparatus, contacting the solution with water in the apparatus to let out the alcohol with water and then letting out an EVOH hydrous composition from the above-mentioned apparatus (step 1); cutting the EVOH hydrous composition let out therefrom to obtain EVOH hydrous composition pellets (step 2); introducing the obtained EVOH hydrous composition pellets into a dryer to reduce a water content thereof (step 3); melt-kneading the pellets, whose water content is reduced, in an extruder (step 4); and cutting EVOH discharged from the extruder to obtain the pellet of EVOH (step 5). Thus, the EVOH hydrous composition obtained by removing alcohol without deteriorating the environment can be efficiently dried, and pellets having less thermal degradation in drying and a uniform shape can be obtained.

To provide a resin composition including: an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) having an ethylene content of from 15 to 65 mol % and a saponification degree of at least 95 mol %, a phosphoric acid salt (B) which can form a hydrate, and a conjugated polyene compound (C) having a boiling point of at least 150° C., wherein the resin composition comprises from 50 to 99 parts by weight of (A), from 1 to 50 parts by weight of (B) and from 0.00001 to 1 parts by weight of (C), based on 100 parts by weight of the total amounts of (A) and (B). This resin composition excels in gas barrier property and also in moisture resistance at high temperatures and high humidities. Therefore, it is suitable for food packaging containers to be retorted.
