摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus or system for determining an amount of coal tar that can enter, and subsequently be displaced from, a given type of soil for a range of depths of the soil. The method and apparatus also provide verification of the pressure at which coal tar can be displaced from a given type of soil. In particular, the method and apparatus simulate the hydrostatic pressure that a soil sample encounters in the subsurface of the ground. Accordingly, the method and apparatus provide a relationship between the concentration of coal tar in the soil and the pressure required to displace the coal tar from the soil, which allows for an estimation of the amount of coal tar that may be displaced at a particular location or site. Further, the method and apparatus are adaptable for use in the laboratory or the field.

摘要: An apparatus, method and system for classifying a shockwave is described, particularly for use in an Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (SWL) system. The method for classifying a shockwave generated and directed towards a stone in an extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy treatment comprises receiving an acoustic signal at a passive unfocused acoustic sensor, determining whether at least one characteristic of the received acoustic emissions exceeds a respective pre-determined threshold value, and classifying the shockwave as effective or ineffective in dependence upon said determination. A method for predicting the outcome of an SWL treatment is also described.

摘要: Key space analysis is provided to improve the merge phase of a sorting process or a computer merge operation where strings of records or files of presorted records are to be merged in order of a key. Key spaces are identified as strings or groups of strings, files or groups of files, whose range of entries does not overlap the range of entries of another key space. The strings or files within each key space are then combined and/or merged, as needed, independently of strings or files in other key spaces, and written directly to the output destination.

摘要: A method and system for assisting a user having a role and a qualification. In accordance with this method, a software tool is provided that is adapted to limit a user to a functional limitation predefined by a first role and a data access limitation predefined by a qualification. The method comprises the steps of receiving a request for assistance from said user, accessing said software tool with a customer care role having a view functionality only limitation, and simulating said first role and said qualification while operating in said customer care role, to assist said user. In the preferred embodiment, the simulation functionalities that the customer care role has, enable that customer care role to simulate update and create functionalities. Also, preferably, the customer care role may use the user's identification to obtain access to the software tool.

摘要: An email generation method and system. The method comprises receiving and storing by a computing system, a first data object. The computing system comprises XML files. Each XML file comprises email templates. The computing system receives language identification data identifying a first XML file of the XML files. The first XML file comprises a first set of email templates. The computing system selects the first XML file in response to receiving the first language identification data. The computing system receives template identification data identifying a first email template of the first set of email templates. The computing system selects the first email template in response to receiving the template identification data. The computing system retrieves the first data object stored in the computing system. The computing system automatically generates a first email by incorporating first portions of the first data object into associated sections of the first email template.

摘要: A computer system provides registration of resource for synchronization point processing. Resources include file systems, data bases, and protected conversations. A resource becomes protected by the system when it is registered in the application's execution environment. The execution environment includes but is not exclusive to the interactive environment. Accordingly the invention provides an efficient and uniform method for identification of protected resources. The registration facility is separate from the application. Thus, the users of applications, application program developers, system administrators and operators need not have to consider or design a registration facility but only involve the one provided. A protected resource manager, through its adapter, can modify, at any time, the registration information, either by adding missing information or by changing the existing information. A resource registers only for the work unit in which it wishes to participate. An application could have several work units. A resource can register for two work units in the application or two resources can register for a single work unit or both.

摘要: A ranking method and system. The method includes receiving by a computing system from a first user, a selection for a first candidate skill. The first user is presented with a first group of predetermined criteria. The first group is associated with the first candidate skill. The first user assigns ranking percentage data associated with the first group. A list including portions of the assigned ranking percentage data assigned to each predetermined criteria of the first group is transmitted to a second user. The computing system receiving from the second user a list of candidates and responses to each predetermined criteria of the first group. The computing system receives from the first user, evaluation data related to the responses. The computing system ranks the candidates of the list based on the assigned ranking percentage data and the evaluation data.
