Receiver and method for accessing an access point of a wireless local area network. The receiver is configured both for communication with a cellular radio network node comprised in a cellular network, and for accessing the wireless local area network via the access point. The method comprises acquiring a cell ID from a memory of the receiver, which cell ID has been received from said node, matching the acquired cell ID with a cell ID stored in a table, together with at least one reference to an access point associated therewith, detecting the access point, which is associated with the acquired cell ID in the table by searching for the access point, and accessing the wireless local area network via the detected access point.
Abstract:
An apparatus configured to broadcast a wireless signal when a processing circuitry of the apparatus is in a non-active state. The broadcasted signals can be used to localize the apparatus when the apparatus is lost. The apparatus has a first processing circuitry configured to operate in an active power consuming mode and a non-active low power consuming mode. The apparatus further has a wireless transmit circuitry configured to be in an active mode and broadcast a wireless signal when the first processing circuitry switches operation mode from the active mode to the non-active mode. The first processing circuitry is powered by a battery supply, and the first processing circuitry may be configured to automatically switch from the active mode to the non-active mode when the supply voltage provided by the battery supply decreases below a threshold voltage, whereby the wireless circuitry will be broadcasting.
Abstract:
A system includes a communication processor and an application processor communicatively coupled to the communication processor. The communication processor is configured to detect a receipt of an incoming data packet, initially process at least a portion of the incoming data packet in the communication processor to determine if the incoming packet satisfies a first set of pre-determined criteria and automatically enable a transfer of the incoming data packet to the application processor depending upon an outcome of the initial processing of the incoming data packet.
Abstract:
A method of minimizing power consumption during operation of a battery operated mobile wireless information device having a plurality of device applications running thereon, the plurality of device applications regularly needing to communicate via the internet using wireless communication channels, the method automatically modifying a wireless transfer related behavior of the mobile wireless communication device, such that the communication channel is primarily loaded with the wireless transfer related task being more time critical during periods of low RSSI values whereas the communication channel in periods of high RSSI values may be loaded with the wireless transfer related task being less time critical. Also the disclosure relates to a battery operated mobile wireless information device capable of carrying out the method according to the disclosure.
