Abstract: A method for accessing a gateway and an apparatus are disclosed, relate to the field of communication technologies, and are applied to a network system including a virtual broadband network gateway (vBNG), where the vBNG includes a control plane (CP) device and a plurality of user plane (UP) devices managed by the CP device, and the network system further includes a user plane steering function (USF) device. The method includes: The USF device obtains user information of a target terminal; the USF device determines a target UP device in the plurality of UP devices based on the user information and load of the plurality of UP devices; and the USF device indicates the target terminal to access the target UP device. Therefore, an appropriate UP device is selected for the target terminal in the network system including the vBNG, and load balancing between the plurality of UP devices is implemented.

Abstract: A method for advertising a route, applied to a layer 3 network in an open systems interconnection OSI model. The network includes a control plane network element and a user plane network element that are connected to each other, and the method includes: receiving, by the user plane network element, a packet whose source IP address is a first IP address; determining, by the user plane network element, that the first IP address is not authenticated; sending, by the user plane network element, an authentication request that includes the first IP address to the control plane network element; receiving, by the user plane network element, a first session from the control plane network element; and advertising, by the user plane network element, first routing information based on the first session, where a destination address of the first routing information is the first IP address.

Abstract: This application discloses a method and an apparatus for accessing a gateway, and pertains to the field of communications technologies. A service level agreement (SLA) level may be obtained based on user information of a terminal, and further a user plane (UP) device corresponding to the terminal is determined based on the SLA level of the terminal. Thus, terminals with different SLA levels may be allocated to different UP devices for bearing, so that a specific terminal may access a specified UP device. This resolves a problem in a related technology that a terminal relatively randomly accesses a UP device. In addition, because an SLA level may be used to indicate a level of quality of service of a terminal, after terminals with different SLA levels access different UP devices, differentiated services may be provided on the different UP devices. Therefore, user requirements are met, and revenues are increased.
