Abstract: An antenna assembly includes a first antenna array and at least one second antenna array disposed a substrate. The first antenna array includes a first monopole antenna element and at least a second monopole antenna element. A metal strip member is coupled to the first monopole antenna element and to the second monopole antenna element. The second antenna array comprises a dipole shaped coupler. The first antenna array and the second antenna array are spaced apart by a predetermined distance and occupy a common space.

Abstract: An electronic device and antenna system for generation of millimeter-wave frequency radiation. The antenna system has first conductive structure, a second conductive structure, and an antenna comprising a first antenna element configured to excite a first electric field having a first polarization, and a second antenna element configured to excite a second electric field having a second polarization. The first antenna element and the second antenna element extend in an antenna plane. An anisotropic dielectric volume is partially enclosed by the antenna, the first conductive structure, and the second conductive structure. A first surface of the dielectric volume is open to the exterior of the antenna system. The dielectric volume allows the first and second electric fields to propagate, within the dielectric volume, from the antenna at least partially towards the first conductive structure, and to radiate from the first surface to the exterior.

Abstract: A patch antenna includes a plurality of patch units, a first feeding branch, and a second feeding branch. The plurality of patch units is symmetric relative to a virtual symmetry axis. The conductive structure comprises a bottom element and at least one wall element, said wall element at least partially enclosing an aperture, said patch antenna being superposed over said aperture. Antenna performance in, e.g., mobile devices is improved via an antenna assembly which allows wide-angle beam scanning across a wide frequency bandwidth. Wide beam coverage may in turn contribute to improving multi-surface spherical beam coverage, such as in broadside direction and endfire direction, and to reducing the amount of needed antenna modules. Abstract: Various embodiments relate to an antenna design enabling beam-steering antenna arrays for communication in a high radio frequency spectrum.
