Abstract: This application provides example communication methods and apparatuses. One example method includes performing, by a network device on a preconfigured resource, data demodulation on uplink data from a terminal device. The network device can then send downlink control information (DCI) to the terminal device, where the DCI includes first indication information, and if the uplink data fails to be demodulated, or it is determined, based on a result of the data demodulation, that the terminal device needs to retransmit the uplink data, the first indication information indicates either the terminal device to initiate random access or EDT and retransmit the uplink data or that the uplink data fails to be demodulated.

Abstract: This application relates to a communication method and apparatus. A terminal device sends first uplink data to a network device. After sending the first uplink data, the terminal device monitors a first downlink control channel in a first search space in a first duration; and after the first duration ends, the terminal device monitors a second downlink control channel in a second search space in a second duration. A length of a periodicity of the second search space is greater than a length of a periodicity of the first search space. In this case, the terminal device monitors the second downlink control channel based on the second search space at a low frequency. Therefore, the second search space with a long periodicity is set, so that power consumption of monitoring the downlink control channel by the terminal device can be reduced.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and terminal devices for detecting a wake-up signal. Abstract: Example communication methods and apparatus are described. In one example method, a first cell includes a plurality of terminal devices that can transmit uplink data on a same uplink time-frequency resource. A first terminal device in the plurality of terminal devices determines a reference time domain location based on a preconfigured uplink time-frequency resource, where the reference time domain location is the same as a reference time domain location determined by another terminal device in the plurality of terminal devices. The first terminal device determines a time domain location that is (first duration×N H+second duration×(N−1)) away from the reference time domain location as a start time domain location of X gaps. The first terminal device further determines a time domain location that is (first duration×(M−1)+second duration x (M−1)) away from the reference time domain location as a start time domain location of Y first durations, where Y=X or Y=X+1. Uplink data is sent by the first terminal device to a network device on a first time-frequency resource used to transmit uplink data.

The first device sends the first control information to a second device. According to the method and device provided in the embodiments of this application, a network coverage capability can be improved, and the method and device may be applied to the internet of things, for example, MTC, IoT, LTE-M, or M2M.
