摘要: The present invention is a holder assembly having a holder housing, collar and safety shield. The safety shield is pivotably attached to the collar. The collar is receiving within a recess defined by the annular skirt and needle receiving port of the holder housing. The collar and attached safety shield may thus be rotated about the holder housing and an attached needle assembly, thereby allowing a user to freely position the safety shield during needle insertion and preventing the dislocation of safety shield from the holder housing.

摘要: An inflation system (10, 110, 120, 130) for a balloon catheter assembly (12) includes an inflation tube (22), the first end of which is connectable to an inflation fluid reservoir (24, 30) and the second end of which is connectable to and opens into an inflatable cuff (20) on a main catheter (14) of the balloon catheter assembly, to permit the fluid reservoir to be in fluid communication with the cuff. A fluid reservoir is connectable to the inflation tube and is fillable with cuff inflation fluid only to a predetermined, fixed volume, to thereby permit no more than such volume of fluid to be transferred from the reservoir to the cuff during use of the system, to prevent over-inflation of the cuff and thereby avoid potential trauma to the patient.

摘要: The invention is a system (10, 110) for regulating volume in a retention cuff/balloon (20) in an indwelling catheter; i.e., the combination of fixed-volume inflatable retention cuff mountable on a patient proximal end of an indwelling catheter (14) and relief valve (23, 123) connected to the cuff. The relief valve has ends for selective introduction of fluid to the cuff and for connection to an inflation tube. A valve port (24, 124) permits escape of excess fluid when a maximum cuff volume has been exceeded, and inflation tube (22) connects cuff (20) to the relief valve. The inflation tube has ends in fluid-tight connection to an interior of the cuff, and the relief valve to thereby permit the cuff and valve to be in fluid communication with each other for selective filling of the cuff to insert and safely retain an indwelling catheter in a patient for an extended period.

摘要: An endotracheal respiration system is disclosed which includes a respirator manifold which includes a port for attachment and detachment of an accessory device thereto without interruption of continuous respiratory support of the patient. A particular embodiment of an accessory device described herein includes a suctioning system for removal of fluids from a patient's lungs during respiratory support. The manifold of the respiration system includes an accessory access port which has a normally closed valve therein which remains closed regardless of the pressure changes within the manifold. However, the normally closed valve is positioned in the port such that placement of a specially designed male adaptor located on the suctioning device forces the normally closed valve to an open position, thus allowing passage of a suction catheter through the manifold into the patient. Removal of the male adaptor of the suctioning device allows the normally closed valve to return to its closed position, thus allowing continued operation of the respirator even when no accessory device is present in the accessory device access port. The male adaptor includes a housing which is specially adapted to be securable within the valve in the access port of the manifold so as to substantially inhibit pressure loss from the manifold while simultaneously forcing the valve to an open position.

摘要: A wood pellet combustion container for a fireplace. The wood pellet combustion container comprises a housing having a base and a sidewall forming an interior volume having an open upper end. The housing further includes a platform that is slidably disposed within the sidewall at the open upper end such that it can be removed from the housing. The platform includes a plurality of apertures and a handle disposed thereon, wherein the platform receives burning wood pellets. The sidewall further includes a drawer slidably mounted below the platform, wherein the drawer receives wood pellet ashes that fall through the plurality of apertures. The wood pellet combustion container is placed within a fireplace, such that heat is generated from burning wood pellets placed on the platform.
