摘要： Systems, methods, and computer storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that return query completions are provided. A user of a computing device like a mobile phone may enter a prefix. In turn, the prefix and location information associated with the device are transmitted to a server device. The server device receives the prefix and location information. The prefix and the location information are matched with names and locations of entities stored in a database connected to the server device. The server device transmits query completion data to the mobile device. The query completion data includes one or more names that complete the received prefix. The names provided by the server device may be associated with entities that are within a threshold radius of the location information.

摘要： Systems, methods, and computer media for providing alternative market search results are provided. A user search query in a first market is received. Search results relevant to the user search query are identified for the first market in a first language. A user intent to receive search results for the user search query for a second market and in a second language is determined. A search results page is presented that includes headings and search results for the first market in the first language as well as a search result toggle that includes a user-selectable option to present alternative search results for a second market in a second language. Selection of the option to present alternative search results causes search results for the second market and in the second language to be presented in the search results page along with the search results page headings in the first language.

摘要： An input method editor (IME) configured to provide language assistance across a plurality of applications is disclosed. In one example, the IME is adapted for use by English-as-a-second-language (ESL) users. In a specific example, language assistance may be provided by first detecting a need to suggest a substitute word to a user who is typing within an application. The detection may be based on a probability that a current word is in error. If a need is detected, a suggestion may be obtained for the word, such as from a cloud linguistic service or from a local lexicon and language-model, if network connectivity is poor. Once obtained, the suggestion may be displayed to the user in a non-intrusive manner by user interface element(s). Interaction with the user allows the user to accept or reject the suggestion, and perform other functions, such as relocating user interface elements utilized by the display.

Upon receiving a request for presentation of a search engine home page, a static image is transmitted for presentation as at least a portion of the background for the search engine home page. Also transmitted is a streaming video file. The static image may or may not be associated with the streaming video file. After a predetermined amount of time, play of the streaming video file is initiated without user action, the streaming video file replacing the static image as at least a portion of the background of the search engine home page. In this way, the user receives a seamless transition from a static image to a video presentation and is provided a rich, immersive experience at the search engine home page.

摘要： Entity pages are created that are optimized for search engines to return entity information from the entity pages in response to search queries. An entity page may be created for an entity by identifying electronic content sources that include data about the entity. Usage data indicative of how users have consumed data at the electronic content sources is also determined. The usage data is analyzed to identify topics for the entity and topic content is retrieved from the electronic content sources to create topic summaries. An entity page with the topics summaries is generated. When a search engine receives a search query related to the entity, the search engine may provide information from the entity page in response to the search query.
