Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for efficient ACKnowledgment/NonACKnowledgement (ACK/NACK) transmission in order to transmit forward data for multiple layers and support Hybrid Automatic Retransmission reQuest (HARQ) for each layer in a mobile communication system. The method includes determining whether transmission of the ACK/NACK is for a first layer or for layers higher than the first layer; and when the transmission of the ACK/NACK is for layers higher than the first layer, transmitting the reverse ACK/NACK by allocating resources to the higher layers with a quantity different from that of the first layer.

A method for transmitting data in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) system. The data transmission method includes determining a number of diversity tiles, each of which includes physically separated frequency resources; dividing an entire system band into diversity subbands including the diversity tiles and localized subbands including localized tiles, each of which includes physically adjacent frequency resources, when the determined number of diversity tiles is greater than a threshold; uniformly distributing the diversity tiles over the entire system band, and disposing the localized tiles in the remaining bands except for the diversity tiles, when the determined number of diversity files is not greater than the threshold; and transmitting data to multiple terminals over the configured diversity tiles and localized tiles using diversity transmission and localized transmission schemes.

Provided is a method for transmitting feedback information by a receiver in a mobile communication system that performs multiplexing transmission using array antennas. The method includes determining a weight set for maximizing a data rate among at least one weight set having, as its elements, multiple orthonormal weight vectors, based on a fading channel estimated from a pilot channel of received data; estimating channel state information corresponding to a weight vector of the determined weight set; and generating and transmitting feedback information including an index of the determined weight set, the selected weight vector information, and the channel state information corresponding to the weight vector.

A transmission/reception apparatus for transmitting packet data in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. The apparatus includes a transmission module for generating a frame of an OFDM symbol including pilot tones using the packet data, and transmitting the frame to a wireless network; and a controller for changing at least one of a Pilot-to-Data Ratio (PDR) of the pilot tones and a density of the pilot tones based on a length of the frame. The reception apparatus includes a reception module for receiving a frame of an OFDM symbol including pilot tones from a wireless network, extracting the pilot tone from the received frame, performing channel estimation thereon, and demodulating the packet data; and a controller for receiving at least one of a PDR of the pilot tone and a density of the pilot tone, both of which are in proportion to a length of the frame, and controlling the reception module so that the channel estimation is performed, based on the received information.

A method for supporting frequency hopping of a transmission apparatus by a reception apparatus in a wireless communication system supporting Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ). The method includes determining whether a particular transmission apparatus has a need to perform hopping of allocating a different logical channel every Transmission Time Interval (TTI); and when there is no need to perform hopping every TTI, sending to the transmission apparatus a command to perform hopping every multiple TTIs, and simultaneously signaling information on a number of the multiple TTIs.

Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for transmitting a control channel message, which can reduce resource waste in an OFDM system multiplexing and using a Block Resource Channel (BRCH) and a Distributed Resource Channel (DRCH) in a frequency axis. The apparatus includes a controller for generating a predetermined field and outputting a control channel message including the predetermined field, the predetermined field indicating a precoding index when a common pilot is used for data demodulation in a mobile station and indicating a pilot format of a dedicated pilot when the dedicated pilot is used for data demodulation in the mobile station, the precoding index indicating a weight value for beam-forming of each antenna; and a transmission module for converting the control channel message into a wireless signal and transmitting the wireless signal to the mobile station. The apparatus and method can reduce the resource waste of a control channel by inserting different pieces of information into a predetermined field included in the control channel message according to the channel type and the multiplexing mode of a resource channel in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system, and enables the efficient use of resources by transmitting different types of control information through redundant bits of a control channel message.

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for data transmission/reception in a mobile telecommunication system, and more particularly to an apparatus and method for data transmission/reception in a mobile telecommunication system employing an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) scheme. The method includes identifying a CHannel IDentifier (CH_ID), which represents a first resource indicated by a Forward Shared Control CHannel (F-SCCH) among all resources; identifying a second resource indicated by resource assignment information for group terminals; and when the first resource includes all or a part of the second resource, and a third resource unused by the group terminals exists in the entire or part of the second resource, transmitting/receiving data by means of the third resource and a fourth resource, which is a remaining part of the first resource excluding the second resource.
