Disclosed is a liquid crystal display having high aperture ratio and high transmittance comprising: first and second transparent insulating substrates opposed with intervening a liquid crystal layer; gate bus lines and data bus lines arranged cross to each other on the first transparent insulating substrate so as to define pixel regions; a counter electrode disposed within each pixel region, made of a transparent conductive material, and having a plurality of first branches disposed parallel with the data bus lines with equal distance and a bar connecting one ends of the first branches; a common signal line applying a common signal to the counter electrode disposed within each pixel region, contacted with the bar of the counter electrode, disposed parallel with the gate bus line, and having a pair of second branches branched toward the data bus line and disposed between the data bus line and the first branches of both edges of the counter electrode; a pixel electrode disposed within each pixel region to generate a fringe field together with the counter electrode, made of a transparent conductive material, and having a plurality of third branches disposed parallel to the data bus line with equal distance, a first bar connecting one ends of the third branches, a second bar connecting the other ends of the third branches; and a black matrix disposed at a portion of the second transparent insulating substrate corresponding to the gate bus line, the data bus line and the common signal line, wherein width of the black matrix at the portion corresponding to the common signal line is narrower than that of the common signal line.

The present invention is directed to provide a manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display having high transmittance and high aperture ratio, wherein the method is capable of decreasing process time and cost by reducing numbers of photolithography process steps. The manufacturing method of the liquid crystal display according to comprises the steps of: providing a transparent insulating substrate having a displaying area and a non-displaying area; forming a light shielding pattern and a common signal line, with an opaque metal layer on the non-displaying area of the transparent insulating substrate; forming a counter electrode with a transparent metal layer on the displaying area of the transparent insulating substrate; depositing an insulating layer over the transparent insulating substrate so as to cover the light shielding pattern and the common signal line, and the counter electrode; forming source and drain electrodes to be overlapped with the light shielding pattern respectively on the insulating layer portions of both sides of the light shielding pattern and a data bus line connected to the source electrode; forming a pixel electrode with a transparent metal layer on the insulating layer portion of the displaying area; forming a channel layer on the light shielding pattern and on the source and drain electrode portion overlapped with the light shielding pattern; and forming a gate bus line having a gate insulating layer on the channel layer.

The liquid crystal display is manufactured according to the steps of: forming a gate bus line and a common signal line on a lower substrate; forming a gate insulating layer on the lower substrate in which the gate bus line and the common signal line are formed; forming a channel layer on a selected portion of the gate insulating layer comprising the gate bus line; forming a source and a drain electrodes so as to overlap with both sides of the channel layer, and a data bus line being arranged perpendicular to the gate bus line; etching the gate insulating layer so as to expose a selected portion of the common signal line; forming a counter electrode by depositing an ITO layer on the gate insulating layer, and by patterning a selected portion thereof so as to contact with the exposed common signal line; depositing a passivation layer over the gate insulating layer in which the counter electrode is formed; etching the passivation layer so as to expose a selected portion of the drain electrode; and forming a pixel electrode, by depositing the ITO layer on the passivation layer so as to contact to the exposed drain electrode, and by patterning a selected portion of the ITO layer so that a fringe field is formed by being overlapped with the counter electrode.

The invention relates to an adjustment circuit to reduce an LCD panel flicker, wherein the LCD panel has a plurality of scan lines and a plurality of data lines. In one embodiment, the adjustment circuit includes a variable resistor, and a plurality of impedance adjustment devices, each with impedance and having a control terminal to be coupled with a DC voltage source through the variable resistor, a power terminal to be coupled with a common voltage source, and a scan line terminal to be coupled with a scan line, wherein the impedance of each of the impedance adjustment devices can be varied when the resistance of the variable resistor is varied. Each of the impedance adjustment devices in one embodiment has a transistor. The impedance of each of the impedance adjustment devices is much higher than the impedance of the corresponding scan line to allow the LCD to be operated at higher frequencies.
