Abstract: An image of a region captured by an unmanned aerial vehicle flying at an altitude may be received. A computer vision algorithm may be executed with the image as an input to compute an overall confidence score associated with detecting one or more candidate objects in the image. Responsive to determining that the confidence score is below a predefined minimum threshold or above a predefined maximum threshold, the unmanned aerial vehicle may be controlled to change its altitude and recapture the image of the region at a new position. Responsive to determining that the overall confidence score is not below the predefined minimum threshold, information associated with the image may be stored on a storage device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system, and computer program product for efficient analysis of image data. An image with the lowest resolution is retrieved. A machine learning model is then used to perform image analysis on the image to generate a pixel-wise classification and an uncertainty map. A segment of the image with an area of uncertainty that is beyond an uncertainty threshold as indicated in the uncertainty map is then retrieved at a higher resolution to be analyzed using the model as discussed above. The process of retrieving further segments of the image at a higher resolution to be analyzed using the model continues until there are no more areas of uncertain classification within the uncertainty map that are beyond the uncertainty threshold. The image analysis result segments of the image at a higher resolution are merged to replace those image analysis result segments at a lower resolution.

Abstract: A system for observing agricultural samples includes a chassis suspended on an elevated cable or rail, an actuator disposed within the chassis for moving the chassis forward and backward along the elevated cable or rail, a camera mounted on or within the chassis and configured to acquire image data of an area below the elevated cable or rail including an agricultural sample, and a processor disposed within the chassis for receiving image data from the camera, autonomously controlling the actuator to move the chassis along the elevated cable or rail, and assessing a condition of the agricultural sample from the received image data.

Abstract: A method for improving the performance of a computer vision system includes obtaining input specifying a task to be performed by the computer vision system; obtaining a first digital image; and comparing the first digital image to at least one training image used to train the computer vision system to solve the task. Further steps include, based on the comparing indicating that the first digital image is insufficiently similar to the at least one training image, recommending at least one adjustment to the digital image; obtaining a second digital image in accordance with the adjustment; and performing the task with the computer vision system based on the second digital image obtained in accordance with the adjustment. Adjustments can be based, for example, on image composition and/or weather conditions.
