    Abstract: A launch system is provided, including a composite vehicle and a carrier vehicle. The composite vehicle includes a payload vehicle, a booster vehicle and a first coupling system. The payload vehicle is configured for powered spaceflight at least in a space medium, and includes a rocket driven propulsion system. The booster vehicle is configured for powered supersonic/hypersonic aerodynamic flight, includes a ramjet propulsion system, and is configured for transporting the composite vehicle between a first altitude and a second altitude under propulsive power provided by the ramjet propulsion system. The first coupling system is configured for selectively coupling and decoupling the payload vehicle with respect to the booster vehicle. The carrier vehicle is configured at least for powered subsonic/transonic/supersonic aerodynamic flight, and for transporting the composite vehicle to at least the first altitude from a ground location. The launch system also includes a second coupling system for selectively coupling and decoupling the composite vehicle with respect to the carrier aircraft.

    Abstract: A method of calibrating a levelling offset meter (LOM) for calculating the angular offset between a plane parallel to the LOM and a predetermined reference plane, the LOM comprises a bull's eye spirit level having a bubble and a processor coupled to an image, comprising: capturing, by the imager, a plurality of images of the spirit level associated with a respective plurality of known angular offsets; calculating in respect of each image a pixel distance from the bubble center to a predetermined zero offset pixel, thereby obtaining a plurality of pixel distances, each pixel distance associated with a known angular offset; fitting a function to a plurality of pairs of values, each pair of values comprising a pixel distance and its associated known angular offset; and storing the function in a memory.

    Abstract: There are provided methods and systems for producing a wave-beam having substantially constant lateral extent over a desired range of distances, and interrogation and response system and methods utilizing the same. The method for producing a wave-beam having substantially constant lateral extent includes generating a plurality of at least partially incoherent constituent wave-beams having different divergences and directing the plurality constituent wave-beams to propagate along substantially parallel propagation axes such that the constituent wave-beams at least partially overlap and superpose to form a combined wave-beam. The divergences and intensities of the constituent wave-beams are selected such that the combined wave-beam has a desired substantially constant extent over a desired range of distances along said propagation axes.
