    摘要: The present disclosure relates to a new composition of matter dibenzofuran-2,3,6,7,-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and polymers derived therefrom including polyamic acid or polyimide polymers formed from the reaction of the above dianhydride and a diamine. The claimed dianhydride finds use as an excellent cross-linking moiety. Condensation polymers derived from the dianhydride and diamines are useful in the production of films and fibers with good thermal stability.

    摘要: Viscous polybutenes of number average molecular weight (M.sub.n) in the range of about 300 to about 3,000 have improved reactivity with intramolecular anhydrides of unsaturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acids when reacted in the presence of rather small amounts, i.e., 5 to 200 ppm, of inorganic halogen preferably chlorine and/or bromine containing compounds. Use of such halogen containing compounds in the addition reaction of polybutene with said unsaturated anhydrides can reduce formation of undesired tarry product resulting from polymerization and/or thermal decomposition of the unsaturated anhydrides.

    摘要: A process for producing alkenyl substituted anhydrides which comprises introducing one mole of polypropene or polybutene having a number average molecular weight of 200-3000, 0.8-5.0 moles of the anhydride of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and 5-200 ppm of an additive which suppresses the formation of tarry materials and undesirable reaction side products and/or improves yield, into a reaction zone, reacting said materials at a temperature from about 150.degree. C to about 300.degree. C to form the alkenyl anhydride, distilling off and condensing the unreacted anhydride from the reaction mixture, recovering the alkenyl substituted anhydride, and returning at least a portion of the recovered unreacted anhydride to a reaction zone for reaction with an alkenyl material.

    摘要: A process for the manufacture of 1,4-bis[2-(4'-carbomethoxystyrenyl)] benzene is disclosed. This process comprises reacting, at a temperature of about 0.degree. C. to about 100.degree. C., in a highly polar anhydrous organic solvent or solvent mixture, or in liquid ammonia, a p-xylylene-bis-(trialkylphosphonium halide) or p-xylylene-bis-(triarylphosphonium halide) with 4-carbomethoxybenzaldehyde, initiated by the slow introduction of an organometallic compound or an inorganic base. Polyesters, such as polyethylene terephthalate, are copolymerized with about 5 to about 20 parts per million of 1,4-bis[2-(4'-carbomethoxystyrenyl)] benzene. 1,4-bis[2-(4'-carbomethoxystyrenyl)] benzene is useful to provide permanent whiteness to polyesters and polyamides and other synthetic or natural polymers. Polyesters are useful for the manufacture of fibers, films, and related industrial products.
