The display unit overlays a magnetic tablet for inputting the designated data into the unit for display on the partial display areas. The display is driven to only some of said partial display areas to display the input pattern in the information on the partial display areas by applying a high duty cycle scan voltage to the common electrodes of the partial display areas.

摘要： An improvement on a display system which displays multi-digit numeral information on a time-shared basis in response to application of bipolarity alternating voltage to liquid crystal display units. Each of the liquid crystal display units has a common electrode actuated by one of sequentially phase-shifted timing signals and a predetermined number of segment electrodes actuated by segment signals of which combinations are representative of the multi-digit numeral information to be displayed. Particularly, in the present system, visual display is provided over successive repetition of first and second display cycles in a manner that timing selection for the respective common electrodes is effected with one polarity or phase during the first display cycle and subsequently timing selection for the same is effected with the opposite polarity or phase during the second display cycle. This provides a considerable improvement in life time and immunity from blinking information caused due to the decreasing of display frequency.

摘要： An electronic digital tape measure includes a flexible tape, a detector, and a digital display. A keyboard unit and a control circuit may be further included for acting as an electronic calculator. The flexible tape is constructed by allocating a number of magnetic balls a predetermined space from each other and by locating a number of non-magnetic balls to provide the space therebetween. The chain of the balls is covered by flexible synthetic resin or the like. While the flexible tape has no special structure, a holding member is provided within the detector for grasping the flexible tape to be driven in unison with the movement of the flexible tape.

摘要： An extensible tape member is provided for measuring a voluntary angle or for measuring length of an object. The extensible tape member may be pulled out of the housing of an electronic combined protractor and calculator in measuring either angle or length. A rotatory reel which accomodates and stores the extensible tape member therein is rotated in unison with the extension of the extensible tape member from its housing. A photo sensor is provided for detecting rotation of the rotatory reel and for providing counting signals corresponding to the rotation. One of two indexes is arranged on a frame of the rotatory reel while the other of the indexes is positioned on the lower half of the housing of the electronic combined protractor and calculator. When measuring angle, the two indexes should be attached to two lines defining the angle to be measured, respectively. One of the indexes is rotatably driven along with the extension of the extensible tape member, whereby the rotatory reel is rotated in accordance with a degree of the angle to be measured. The counting signals are introduced into a control circuit to determine the degree of the angle. When measuring the length, the extensible tape member is adjusted in length to correspond to the length of the object to be measured while extending out of the housing. The rotation of the rotatory reel is utilized for determining the length of the object in almost the same manner as for the angular measurement.
