摘要: A method and system useful for the removal of contaminants such as sulfur oxides from waste gas streams using a graded-bed system is disclosed. The graded-bed system uses beds with solid sorbents of two or more particle sizes in separate sections of the bed. In one embodiment, the solid sorbents are arranged so that the larger sorbent particles are disposed in the entrance region of the graded-bed system. In operation, a waste gas stream is passed over and through the solid sorbents so that contaminants, such as sulfur oxides and/or nitrogen oxides are adsorbed. The sorbent bed is then contacted with a reducing gas to desorb the sulfur oxides.

摘要: Oxides of nitrogen (NO.sub.x) emissions from an FCC regenerator are reduced by operating the regenerator in partial CO burn mode and adding substoichiometric, or just stoichiometric air to the flue gas. Much CO and most NO.sub.x and NO.sub.x precursors are thermally converted at 2000.degree.-2900.degree. F., then the gas is cooled below about 1800.degree. F. and burning of CO completed.

摘要: Lubricant compositions comprise blends or mixtures of low viscosity, 3-8 cS e.g. about 5 cS(100.degree. C.), HVI lube basestock with higher viscosity, 15 cS+e.g. 30+ cS(100.degree. C.) HVI PAO lube basestock produced from slack wax by thermal cracking to alpha olefins followed by Lewis acid catalyzed oligomerization of the alpha olefin mixture to lube base stock. Blending these components in appropriate proportions produces lube basestock having viscosities in the range of 8-15 cS (100.degree. C.) from which material suitable for the formulation of 10W-30 automobile engine lube can be produced. The blends are notable for exhibiting high VI values greater than that of either component of the blend.

摘要: In a process for converting methane to aromatic hydrocarbons, a feed containing methane and a particulate catalytic material are supplied to a reaction zone operating under reaction conditions effective to convert at least a portion of the methane to aromatic hydrocarbons and to deposit carbonaceous material on the particulate catalytic material causing catalyst deactivation. At least a portion of the deactivated particulate catalytic material is removed from the reaction zone and is heated to a temperature of about 700° C. to about 1200° C. by direct and/or indirect contact with combustion gases produced by combustion of a supplemental fuel. The heated particulate catalytic material is then regenerated with a hydrogen-containing gas under conditions effective to convert at least a portion of the carbonaceous material thereon to methane and the regenerated catalytic particulate material is recycled back to the reaction zone.
