    摘要: An electrical connector assembly has a terminal housing, and a number of electrically conductive connector assembly terminals supported by the housing. The connector assembly terminals have mid-sections that protrude from the housing for contacting terminals of a mating connector, and outside connection ends for making electrical connections with outside circuits. Free ends of the connector assembly terminals next to the terminal mid-sections and opposite the outside connection ends, are positioned inside the terminal housing. An electrical circuit component is mounted inside the terminal housing. The circuit component is connected to the free ends of the assembly terminals, so that the mating connector becomes electrically connected to the circuit component through paths between the mid-sections and the free ends of the assembly terminals, in proximity to the circuit component. The electrical circuit component may be constructed and arranged to compensate for cross talk induced when the mating connector contacts the mid-sections of the assembly terminals.

    摘要: A low crosstalk connector configuration includes a terminal face, and at least three pairs of elongated parallel electrical connector terminals, wherein each pair is aligned in a plane normal to the terminal face. A first pair of terminals is aligned in a plane parallel to a second plane in which a second pair of terminals is aligned. A first distance between midpoints of the first and the second pairs of terminals in a direction parallel to the first and the second planes, equals a second distance between the midpoints in a direction perpendicular to the first and the second planes. A third pair of terminals is aligned in a third plane perpendicular to the first and the second planes. The third plane coincides with a point between either of the first or the second pair of terminals. A cable and connector assembly includes a length of cable with at least three pairs of twisted wires, with each wire pair connected to a corresponding pair of the connector terminals.

    摘要: A communication plug that generates crosstalk, at a predetermined level, that complements the compensating crosstalk in a legacy jack or connector. The communication plug includes an electrical connector assembly comprising a plurality of conductive blades. Each conductive blade is adapted to make electrical contact with an insulated conducting wire and with a jack spring contact. At least two of the conductive blades are configured so as to cross over each other without making electrical contact. Complementary crosstalk is generated between the conductive blades in the region where the blades engage the jack spring wires or terminals thus minimizing the propagation delay between the crosstalk signals generated in the plug and the crosstalk signals generated in the jack or connector.

    摘要: A network interface device includes a base, a cover and a circuit board secured in the base. The circuit board includes terminations for input and output communication lines. Each pair of input and output communication lines corresponds to a single standard telephone line, a high speed data line or other type of line. The communication line terminations may be implemented as insulation displacement connectors, and the cover may include projections on its inner surface such that closing the cover also closes the insulation displacement connectors on the circuit board. For each communication line, the circuit board may include a subscriber bridge which establishes a breakable connection between the input and output line terminations via traces in the circuit board. In fixed wireless, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and other similar applications, the circuit board may also include terminations for input and output power lines, and the base and cover may be extended to accommodate an uninterruptible power supply. The power supply supplies the input power line to the corresponding termination on the circuit board, and the output power line is supplied to a power input of a remote unit in a fixed wireless system or other electronic unit external to the network interface device. The circuit board may also include power protection circuitry for protecting against surges on the input and output communication and power lines.

    摘要: Capacitive crosstalk compensation coupling is achieved in a communication connector by the use of a capacitor compensation assembly. The assembly includes a housing constructed to be associated with a communication connector having elongated terminal contact wires. One or more crosstalk compensation capacitors are supported in the housing. Each compensation capacitor includes a first electrode having a first terminal, a second electrode having a second terminal, and a dielectric spacer is disposed between the first and the second electrodes. The terminals of the electrodes are exposed at positions outside of the housing so that selected terminal contact wires of the connector make electrical contact with corresponding terminals of the compensation capacitors to provide capacitive coupling between the selected contact wires when the contact wires are engaged by a mating connector.

    摘要: An electrical contact with an insulated wire conductor is established by defining a wire passage in a connector housing to receive an insulated wire conductor, and capturing a contact member having an electrically conductive hook portion in the housing. An end of the hook portion projects into the wire passage. When an insulated wire conductor is fed into the passage, insulation on the conductor slides along the hook portion of the contact member. Upon withdrawing or displacing the conductor a certain distance relative to the hook portion, an end of the hook portion engages and pierces the insulation on the conductor to make electrical contact with the conductor.

    摘要: A communication connector assembly that incorporates crosstalk compensation. A number of compensation coupling contacts, e.g., conductive pads, stiff wires or plates, are mounted on a front edge region of a wire board that supports a number of terminal contact wires. Compensation elements associated with the wire board are connected to the contacts and are selected to produce, e.g., capacitive crosstalk compensation coupling. The terminal contact wires have connecting portions for contacting corresponding terminals of a mating connector along a line of contact. Free ends of the contact wires, ahead of the line of contact, are formed to deflect toward the wire board and to connect with the compensation coupling contacts on the board when engaged by the mating connector. The compensation coupling is therefore effective at the line of contact with the mating connector. In the disclosed embodiments, the assembly is incorporated in a modular jack connector.
