Abstract: A telecommunications module defines an interior with separate right and left chambers. An optical component is housed within the left chamber. Signal input and output locations are exposed to the right chamber. The right chamber allows excess fiber to accumulate without bending in a radius smaller than a minimum bend radius. A dual-layered cable management structure is positioned within the right chamber that defines a lower cable-wrapping level and a separate upper cable-wrapping level. The upper cable-wrapping level is defined by a removable cable retainer mounted on a spool defining the lower-cable wrapping level. Cabling carrying the input and output signals are passed between the right and left chambers before and after being processed by the optical component.

Abstract: A telecommunications box includes a base frame, having generally planar outer walls that form an enclosed loop around an interior volume. The outer walls include first and second sidewalls that are parallel to and spaced apart from one another. A flange adjoins front-facing edge sides of the outer walls and extends away from the outer walls in an opposite direction as the interior volume. A first window, which is partially defined by the front-facing edge sides of the outer walls, exposes the interior volume from a front side of the base frame. A second window, which is partially defined by rear-facing edge sides of the outer walls, exposes the interior volume from a rear side of the base frame. The first window occupies the same footprint in a front-facing position that the second window occupies in a rear-facing position that is rotationally reversed from the front-facing position.

Abstract: A tool device for installing an optical fiber inside a user premises includes a neck, a coupling joined to the neck for attachment to a leading end of an adhesive syringe or an extension pole, and a head joined to a leading portion of the neck. The head has a leading edge of a certain width, and a passageway for receiving an optical fiber and guiding the fiber to a position proximate to the leading edge. The width of the leading edge is such that when the edge is held transversely across a structural corner containing an adhesive bead, and an optical fiber is received in the passageway in the head and directed ahead of the leading edge, the edge embeds the fiber in the bead when the edge is swept along the corner with the optical fiber positioned between the edge and the adhesive bead.

Abstract: A fiber storage module having a removable supply spool is mounted inside a user premises. The module is arranged to retain the spool at either a first position where the spool can freely rotate, or a second position where the spool is locked. While the spool is removed from the module, a length of fiber sufficient to route from an entry point to the premises to the mounted module, and from the module to an optical device inside the premises, is wound on the spool. The spool with the wound fiber is retained at the first position inside the module, and the fiber is unwound and adhered or fastened to a supporting surface along a determined routing path at the premises. The spool is then locked at the second position, and a length of the remaining fiber is removed for connection to the optical device.

Abstract: A telecommunications module comprises a housing including a main housing portion defining an interior formed by first and second sidewalls, a bottom wall, a front wall, and a rear wall. A removable cover mounts to the main housing to define a top wall. The interior defines separate right and left chambers. A fiber optic component is housed within the left chamber. A signal input location for receiving an input signal for processing by the component and a signal output location for exiting an output signal are both exposed to the right chamber, wherein both the signal input and output locations are defined by the front wall. Cables carrying the input and output signals are fixed via crimp assemblies at the signal input and output locations. An excess fiber length formed when an outer jacket of the cables contracts more than the fiber due to temperature variations is accommodated by the right chamber to allow the excess fiber length to accumulate without bending in a radius smaller than a minimum bend radius. A dual-layered cable management structure is positioned within the right chamber that defines a lower cable-wrapping level and a separate upper cable-wrapping level, wherein the upper cable-wrapping level is defined by a removable cable retainer mounted on a spool defining the lower-cable wrapping level, the structure including both the cable carrying the input signal and the cable carrying the output signal wrapped therearound. The cable carrying the input signal and the cable carrying the output signal are passed between the right chamber and the left chamber before and after being processed by the fiber optic component, respectively, wherein at least one of the rear wall, the first sidewall, and the second sidewall defines a curved portion for providing bend radius protection to the cables carrying the input and output signals.

Abstract: A method includes receiving an optical signal from an external network at a first optical terminal affixed to an external side of a substantially transparent surface of a building. The first optical terminal includes a first fiber port configured to receive a first optical fiber and an output lens optically coupled to the first fiber port. The first fiber port is configured to route the optical signal from the external network to first optical terminal. The method also includes directing the optical signal through an optical link extending through the substantially transparent surface to a second optical terminal affixed to an interior side of the substantially transparent surface. The second optical terminal includes an input lens and a second fiber port optically coupled to the input lens. The input lens is configured to receive the optical signal from the first optical terminal through the optical link.

Abstract: A portable cable feeding device for feeding cables on receiving power from a motor. The portable cable feeding device includes a hollow tube, an indent configured on the hollow tube, a bearing unit to pass through the indent, a motor receiver unit attached to the bearing unit, and a handle to allow a user to hold the hollow tube while feeding the cable. The hollow tube is having a distal end and a front end. The distal end is open to receive the cable. The front end is open to dispense the cable. The cable runs along the length of the hollow tube. The bearing unit passes through the indent across the breadth of the hollow tube. The bearing unit rotates on receiving rotational power from the motor. The rotational bearing unit then moves the cable out from the front end.

Abstract: A tool system for threading an optical fiber through a hole formed in a wall at customer premises, and for protecting the fiber inside the wall. A tool body has forwardly projecting fingers for capturing a connector at an end of the fiber from a direction approaching a front face of the connector. A back end of the tool body is arranged to engage a rod handle of such length that its free end can be threaded through the hole and out the opposite side of the wall. Using the handle, the tool body is pulled through the hole along with a captured connector and associated fiber. A hole plug has a hollow cylindrical body and an access slit for passing the fiber inside the body for protection. The plug body has teeth for engaging the premises wall and retaining the plug at a desired angular position in the wall.
