In a combined gas/steam power station plant which consists essentially of a fossil-fired gas turbine group and a steam circuit, with an exhaust heat boiler (11) in between, intercooling and reheat are provided to maximize the efficiency. The gas turbine group consists of two compressors (1, 2), of two combustion chambers (7, 9) and of two turbines (8, 10). Downstream of the first compressor (1), there is an intercooler (3) and on the cool side of this is placed an evaporator (4) which is in effective connection with the intercooler. The steam quantity formed in the evaporator (4) is introduced into a turbine (6) of the steam circuit, the result of this being a first improvement in efficiency. Downstream of the first turbine (8), there is a second combustion chamber (9) in which the exhaust gases from the first turbine (8) are processed to produce hot gases for the second turbine (10) . The large calorific potential still present in the exhaust gases from this second turbine (10) flows through the exhaust heat boiler (11) in which a maximized steam power is produced, the result of which is the second improvement in efficiency.

In a method for cooling this gas turbine system, compressed air is removed from the compressor, is fed as cooling air for cooling inside an internal cooling channel through thermally loaded components of the combustor and/or the turbine, is then compressed and added to the compressor end air. An improved cooling without disadvantage for the efficiency of the system is achieved in that, in the manner of a targeted leakage, a small part of the cooling air is fed for film cooling into the turbine stream through drilled film cooling openings provided on the components.

In addition, monitoring as to whether the performance signal is the maximum signal is performed. In addition, a device for controlling turbomachines according to the method is specified, which device has a control loop 1 for the output of actuating signals for control devices of the plant, the control loop 1 being preceded by a monitoring loop 2 that has a comparison and selection unit 2.1, to which, apart from the performance signal of the control loop 1, at least one further signal significant of the performance is additionally applied, and all these applied signals form a signal set. The comparison and selection unit 2.1 determines the maximum signal from these signal set and the said maximum signal is applied as input signal to a controller 1.1 of the control loop 1 in place of the direct performance signal.
