摘要: A sleeve shaped structure covers a portion of the transport area of a diffusional or osmotic delivery device. The structure is durable and inert to the use environment. Markings on the structure indicate where breaking or cutting will produce a predictable alteration in delivery rate. Among other attachment means, a water soluble adhesive maintains the structure on the delivery device.

摘要: Method and therapeutic system in the form of a bandage that administer scopolamine base transdermally in an initial pulse of 10 to 200 .mu.g/cm.sup.2 of skin that quickly brings the concentration of scopolamine in the plasma to a level at which emesis and nausea are inhibited without intolerable side effects, followed by a substantially constant dosage in the range of 0.3 to 15 .mu.g/hr that holds said level. The bandage is a four-layer laminate of, from the top: a protective backing; a gelled, mineral oil-polyisobutene-scopolamine reservoir lamina that is the source of the constant dosage; a microporous membrane that controls the constant dosage rate; and a gelled, mineral oil-polyisobutene-scopolamine adhesive layer that is the source of the pulse dose and the means by which the bandage is attached to the skin.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method and system of medication monitoring which includes analyzing data on the clinical consequences of variable patient compliance with prescribed drug regimens, communicating to caregivers and/or patients the compliance-dependent probabilities of two clinically important transitions in health status: substantive improvement in the patient's health status and substantive deterioration in the patient's health status, defining acceptable levels of the respective probabilities of deterioration and of improvement, and intervening when appropriate to improve the patient's compliance, in order to achieve mutually-agreed upon maintenance, improvement, or avoidance of deterioration in health status.

摘要: A drug formulation chamber for an intravenous administration set is provided. The intravenous administration set includes a container of an IV fluid, a drip chamber, a drug formulation chamber, and an adapter-needle assembly. The drug formulation chamber houses a diffusional or an osmotically driven drug delivery device. The osmotically driven delivery device has a semipermeable, microporous or diffusional wall which surrounds a compartment containing the drug. Drug is delivered through an orifice in the semipermeable/microporous wall or through the diffusional wall itself, into the IV fluid. The device delivers drug into the IV fluid at a rate that is independent of the flow rate of IV fluid through the formulation chamber. The rate of drug delivery is controlled by variably adjusting the surface area of the semipermeable/microporous/diffusional wall that is exposed to the IV fluid flowing through the drug formulation chamber.

摘要: A delivery system is disclosed comprising a wall surrounding a lumen containing a plurality of dosage delivery devices. The wall is formed of an environment sensitive material that releases the dosage forms into the environment. The dosage forms comprise a semipermeable wall surrounding a compartment containing drug. A passageway through the semipermeable wall releases drug from the dosage form to the environment.
