摘要: In accordance with the teachings of the invention, the combustion system includes a combustion chamber, hearth, burners, and an air/fuel control system. The control system controls a pressurized air supply, a regulated gas supply, and means for regulating the gas supply as a function of the air pressure. The burner includes an air manifold within which is housed an air control orifice telescoped in a gas manifold and a diffuser inserted within the air control orifice for mixing the air and gas and causing turbulence of the air/gas mixture. The diffuser protrudes through an aperture in the air manifold for communication with a juxtaposed combustion chamber and hearth having a flue gas outlet. Regulated air and gas are supplied to the air manifold and gas manifold respectively and are preheated. The pessurized preheated air passes through a throat and nozzle created by the diffuser and air control orifice creating a low pressure area at ports communicating with the gas manifold. The preheated gas passes from the high pressure area to a lower pressure area through the ports and into the throat. There the gas mixes with the air and passes through the nozzle by turbulent flow where it is ignited. The combustion air is sufficiently pressurized to create a flue gas velocity sufficient to cause a back pressure within the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber may have a very small volume and several nozzles may be housed in a common air manifold. The invention is simple, fuel efficient and reduces heat treat time.

摘要: A combustion system includes waste, fuel, and oxidizer conduits which exit into a combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is lined with refractory within a metal housing and includes a shoulder. A venturi extends between the combustion chamber and an oxidizer manifold mounted on one end of the combustion chamber. The waste conduit communicates with a nozzle in the venturi for atomizing the waste in the combustion chamber. The fuel conduit communicates with ports in the venturi whereby as the oxidizer passes through apertures in the venturi, the fuel is introduced into the oxidizer stream. The mixture of oxidizer and fuel is deflected toward the wall of the combustion chamber where the mixture becomes entrained with the atomized waste from the nozzle. The waste mixes with the mixture of oxidizer and fuel by turbulent flow and is redirected by the shoulder towards the nozzle.

摘要: A burner assembly of the forced draft type includes a set of waste and oxidizer conduits which exit into the combustion zone of a combustion chamber. The combustion chamber includes a primary chamber and a secondary chamber formed by a lining of refractory within a metal housing. A nozzle is disposed at the outlet of the waste conduit to flare the spray of the fluid waste into the primary combustion chamber. The air conduits communicate with the primary combustion chamber about the periphery thereof. The nozzle end of the waste conduit causes the waste to become entrained with the combustion air moving adjacent the inner lateral walls of the primary combustion chamber. The air exiting from the plurality of air conduits is intercepted by the waste exiting from the waste conduit. The waste mixes with the air by turbulent flow, and the pressure of the air and waste creates a velocity sufficient to cause a back pressure within the primary combustion chamber.

摘要: The combustion system includes a hearth lined with refractory, a combustion chamber formed in the refractory, an air manifold mounted on the hearth, a plurality of gas manifolds extending through the air manifold and into the combustion chamber, and a diffuser mounted on the manifolds to cause turbulence in the air/gas mixture. The gas manifolds include aspirating means for combining the air and gas. The combustion chamber is elongated and has an elongated neck with a flue gas exit slot over which the work piece passes. The flue gas from the combustion of the air/gas mixture in the combustion chamber increases in velocity as the flue gas passes through the elongated neck and exits the flue gas exit slot. The slot has a length sufficient to permit the work piece to rotate 360.degree. as the work piece rotates and travels through the hearth. This causes the work piece to be uniformly heated over every square inch of its surface.

摘要: A high velocity pressure burner system burns air and gas thereby creating a flue gas. The system comprises a blower for pressurizing the air; a control for adjusting the pressure of the pressurized air; a combustion chamber having a flue gas outlet; and a burner disposed on the combustion chamber. The burner includes an air orifice for receiving the pressurized air; a gas orifice for receiving the gas; the air orifice causing the pressured air to flow over the gas orifice to form an air/gas mixture; at least one spinner vane disposed upstream of the gas orifice creating turbulence in the air/gas mixture; and a retender disposed downstream of the gas orifice creating turbulence in the air/gas mixture. The flue gas outlet is sized to create a back pressure on the burning air/gas mixture. The flue gas from the combustion of the air/gas mixture in the combustion chamber increases in velocity as the flue gas passes through the flue gas exit. The high velocity pressure burner system is disposed on a vessel for heating the vessel such as a boiler. The boiled includes an exhaust stack sized to maintain a back pressure on the flue gas passing through the boiler. To eliminate the CO and reduce the NOX to less than 10 PPM, the burner is operated at a lower temperature of 2200° F. The vessel is then heated by forced convection heat transfer maintaining the velocity of the flue gas through the vessel at a velocity which is compatible with the insulation lining the vessel.
