摘要: A portable fresh water supply apparatus for providing continuous fresh water to an animal when a caregiver is absent includes a reservoir capable of receiving and dispensing fresh water and a water supply line in fluid communication with the reservoir. A shut-off valve is located within the reservoir and is in fluid communication with the water supply line. A water drain line is in fluid communication with the reservoir, and an over-flow drain valve is located exterior of the reservoir as well as in fluid communication with the water drain line. In this manner, when a water level inside the reservoir reaches a threshold level, the shut-off valve is automatically toggled between open and closed positions and thereby selectively supplies fresh water from the water supply line to an interior of the reservoir. The overflow drain line diverts excess water away from the reservoir.

摘要: A method for processing of a lignocellulosic feedstock is provided comprising exposing lignocellulosic feedstock to acid in a reactor to hydrolyze at least hemicellulose present in said lignocellulosic feedstock, wherein during said exposing, a scale deposit comprising lignin forms on the inner surface of said reactor; and treating the scale deposit with an alkali solution at a temperature between about 140° C. and about 250° C. so as to remove scale. Also provided is a method for reducing scale deposit that forms on process equipment during a stage of reacting a lignocellulosic feedstock with acid.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for phase aligning two optical signals within an optical transmitter to each other (and, in some embodiments, to a pulse carved optical signal) using integrated complimentary taps and a dither signal. The phase of a first signal may be intentionally offset relative to the phase of a second signal. Based on the offset, a correction factor may be calculated. The correction factor may be used to shift the phase of the first signal and/or the second signal in order to generally align the signals. This procedure may be automatically performed in a feedback loop to cause the signals to come into alignment and maintain the alignment of the signals during operation of the transmitter.

摘要: A method of transmitting a plurality n data streams comprises modulating an optical carrier using differential M-ary phase shift key (DMPSK) signalling in which M=2n. Advantageously the method comprises using differential quaternary phase shift keying in which n=2. A particular advantage of the method of the present invention is that since the data is differentially encoded in the form of phase changes rather than absolute phase values this enables the modulated optical carrier to be demodulated using direct detection without requiring a phase-locked local optical oscillator. The invention is particularly applicable to WDM communication systems.

摘要: Query inefficiencies are improved and entity-interrelational blindness is overcome by employing two ideas: Consolidation Strings and Inter-Node Consolidation. These ideas can be typically employed in law-enforcement records systems (such as COPLINK systems), but is certainly not limited to such an application. Consolidation Strings represent key pieces of information that are in a text/character format, and may be encrypted/hashed. A system's hierarchy of consolidation rules automatically determine if two different rows in a database actually refer to the same real-world object. These rules are NOT statistical or probabilistic in nature, thus enhancing the confidence and reliability in the results. Three general classifications of Consolidation Strings are encompassed: Those based on positive identifiers, those based on demographic information, and those based on associative information that spans multiple-entity types. Inter-Node Consolidation provides a means to facilitate the communication of updated consolidation information between data-source nodes in order to leverage the advantages of Consolidation Strings.
