    摘要: A power-saving control method for wireless LAN is applied to a portable electronic device, such as laptop computer. When the portable electronic device is booted and drives the wireless LAN device, the scan function of the wireless LAN device is disabled. Therefore, automatically scanning the wireless access point is avoided to save power. Moreover, after the wireless LAN link is established by the user, the scan function of the wireless LAN device is also disabled. Thus, the periodical automatic scanning the wireless access point is avoided to save power.

    摘要: Thermal conditions within a computer unit are monitored. A system-level temperature sensor responds to intake cooling air. A subsystem-level temperature sensor responds to the temperature of a subsystem-level component, preferably a motherboard or a backplane. When the temperature sensed by of the system-level temperature sensor falls outside of a critical limit, it is determined whether the temperature sensed by the subsystem-level temperature sensor generally correlates with the temperature sensed by the system-level temperature sensor. If there is no correlation, the operation of the computer unit is continued.

The method can be applied to an NFC electronic device with an operation system, and the operation system includes a kernel mode and a user mode.     摘要: An IBM PC compatible processing system typically has a BIOS installed as system firmware. During a boot process of the processing system, the BIOS loads a boot loader from one of the boot media, i.e., hard drives, floppy disks, CDs, USB flash memories, taps, etc. and passes control of the boot loader, the boot loader then loads an OS from the boot media. The present invention takes advantage of the higher reliability and availability provided by the system flash memory and stores a boot loader as system firmware in the system flash memory. Further, it provides changes in the BIOS boot process to load the boot loader from system memory, the ROM, for example, without relying on boot media. With this new process, the boot loader can be loaded even when the boot media is corrupt, defective or un-initialized.

    摘要: An optical collimator comprises an optical fiber (210), a ferrule (220), a GRIN lens (230), a metal sleeve (240), and an outer metal tube (250). The optical fiber has an exposed end which is inserted into the ferrule and glued thereinto. The GRIN lens is glued into the sleeve. Opposite ends (232, 234) of the GRIN lens protrude from opposite ends of the sleeve. The outer tube includes first and second receiving portions (252, 254). The ferrule is glued into the first receiving portion, and the sleeve is secured in the second receiving portion. A plurality of soldering holes (256) is defined in a periphery of the outer tube. Soldering is applied to the sleeve through the holes to firmly connect the outer tube and the sleeve together. A position of the GRIN lens relative to the optical fiber can be easily readjusted by re-soldering the sleeve.

    摘要: A modular connector of the present invention comprises an insulative housing, at least two terminal modules, a shell for enclosing the insulative housing and indicating devices. The insulative housing defines at least two mating cavities in a front portion and at least two insert openings in a bottom wall thereof. The terminal modules each comprise a plurality of contacts injection molded in a spacer thereof and are inserted into the insert openings from a bottom side of the insulative housing. The indicating devices are received in first receiving grooves defined in the insulative housing for signaling circuit transmission. The shell encloses the insulative housing while providing openings for insertion of at least two mating connectors and apertures for protrusion of the indicating devices therethrough.
