摘要: A method and apparatus for providing a relatively short period of time for a fuser assembly to be ready to perform a fusing operation. Included is a fusing assembly having a heat transfer member and a backup member positioned to engage the heat transfer member so as to define a fusing nip therewith; and a controller coupled to the fuser assembly, wherein during a period of time when the fuser assembly is not performing a fusing operation, the controller activates the heat transfer member while causing the backup member to rotate at one or more relatively slow speeds relative to a fusing speed of the fuser assembly.

摘要: The number of pages of a print job received at printer (10) is determined (256). If the number of pages is low, printing is conducted at intermediate speed (262). If the number of pages is higher, printing is conducted at high speed (254). If the number of pages is not known, a default is selected (260). The default often will be to print at intermediate speed because most jobs are short. If high speed printing is in progress when a job is received, the next job is printed at high speed (254). Alternatively, a predetermined number of the first pages of a job may be printed at intermediate speed.

摘要: A laser printer having a rotating mirror (116) and a heat fuser (220) is operated with a sequence of standby conditions. At the end of a print job mirror (116) is continued to be rotated at printing speed while the temperature of fuser (220) is reduced somewhat. This is maintained for a short time, after which the speed of rotation of mirror (116) is reduced significantly and the fuser (220) temperature is reduced significantly. This is maintained for a time, after which the mirror is no longer rotated (or, if practical, is rotated very slowly) and the fuser temperature is further reduced. At any time when a subsequent print job is received, the mirror and fuser are brought to printing state and the period of times are next started from a beginning state.

摘要: Generally, an imaging device is capable of applying respective EP engine settings to different zones within a page of media. In an example embodiment, a method includes printing in first and second zones on a page of media using first and second EP engine settings that are respectively associated with the first and second zones. The imaging device prints in the first zone on the page of media based on a first EP engine setting that is associated with the first zone. The imaging device switches from the first zone on the page of media to the second zone on the page of media responsive to a size indicator. The imaging device prints in the second zone on the page of media based on a second EP engine setting that is associated with the second zone.

摘要: An electrophotographic imaging apparatus includes a feeding tray to feed a media sheet along a feed path in a process direction; a media sensor disposed on the feed path and triggered or changes state when a leading edge and a trailing edge of the media sheet arrives at the media sensor; an image carrying member adjacent to the media sensor and carrying a toner image thereon, and an transfer roll abuttingly coupled with the image carrying member to facilitate the transfer of the toner image from the image carrying member onto the media sheet. The electrophotographic imaging apparatus includes a controller for adjusting the setting of transfer roll voltage values based on the location of an image area on the media sheet. Further disclosed is a method for reproducing an original image on the media sheet using variable timing of transfer voltages.

摘要: An electrophotographic device has first and second laser sources, each controllable to emit a laser beam, a scanning device arranged to direct the beams so as to sweep in a scan direction across a photoconductive surface and a controller configured to control the electrophotographic device. In at least one print mode, the electrophotographic device is controlled such that scan lines written by the first laser beam overlap with scan, lines written by the second laser beam, and a laser power of the first and second laser sources are controlled such that image data corresponding to select print elements are each partially written at a corresponding print element, position along at least two adjacent scan lines so as to combine energy in a manner that forms a synthesized print element on the photoconductive surface at a position between the adjacent scan lines.

摘要: A staging assembly for use in an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus includes a paper feed assembly having a plurality of rollers for feeding a transfer sheet to an electrophotographic assembly. A removable idler gear is interposed between the paper feed assembly and the electrophotographic assembly, and drives the paper feed assembly when installed. A staging assembly drives the paper feed assembly when the idler gear is removed and includes a rotatable drive element for connection to and rotation of one of the rollers; a drive unit for rotatably driving the rotatable drive element; and an electrical connector for electrically connecting the staging assembly to the electrophotographic assembly. The staging assembly is a modular assembly which is connectable to and removable from the paper feed assembly.

摘要: A system and a method for improving total job time without needing to know a job size. An engine dynamically decides which process speed to warm up to based on a number and size of pages currently submitted to the engine, and thus deliver the best job time dynamically. The engine also takes into account its condition and a condition of a fuser, and dynamically selects a substantially optimum point of operation.
