摘要： An escalator drive machine includes a motor output sheave which drives a drive belt along a closed look between the output sheave and a drive sprocket. The output sheave engages the drive belt with the step chain such that the step chain and attached tread plates are propelled from one landing to the other. The output sheave includes a first set of teeth and a second set of teeth. The first set of teeth is around the output sheave hub to engage a set of belt teeth extending from the drive belt. The second set of teeth is preferably located along a rim of the output sheave and is engageable with corresponding link teeth located along each link in the drive chain. The second set of teeth maintain their relationship with the corresponding link teeth due to the first set of teeth, however, there is no contact therebetween. However, should the drive belt fail or become disengaged, the second set of teeth engage the corresponding link teeth. The step chain and attached tread plates are thereby prevented from moving independently.

摘要： An escalator handrail drive arrangement includes a drive belt (26) mounted within a drive housing (35). Pressure rollers (30) are mounted in pairs and pivotally attached to the drive housing. The pressure rollers bias a handrail (22) against the drive belt. The pressure roller arrangements are mounted at each axial end. A spring (44) biases the pressure roller arrangements against the handrail, with the spring being centered along the axial length of the pressure rollers. This spring is preferably mounted within the drive housing such that no additional space is required outwardly of the drive and roller arrangement to accommodate the spring.

摘要： A stepchain for a passenger conveyor includes a plurality of stepchain links (30, 130, 230). There is only one link-to-link interface (31) on each side of the steps (24) such that the number of links (30) on each side of the steps (24) is equal to the number of steps (24). The inventive arrangement reduces rotation or contraction of the stepchain between steps (24). Elongation of the stepchain is also reduced as there is a reduction in the number of interfaces (31). The inventive arrangement also facilitates arcuate movement of the steps (24) along a constant radius through the transition zones between the inclined area (27) and the landing areas (29). Having a truly arcuate movement allows for reducing the gap (33) between the steps (24) at the transition zones. In one example at least one needle bearing (190) is associated with an attachment mechanism (184, 284) at the interface (31) between adjacent links (30) to allow for rotation between the stepchain links (30) and to eliminate the need for lubrication.

The ends of the rollers are supported in rotary fashion in bearings and at least one of the rollers is embodied as an advancing roller and has an adjusting system by which it is possible to move the bearings of the advancing roller, thus changing the nip. The adjusting system has a rack and a pinion whose teeth engage with those of the rack and can be driven to rotate by a motor. It is possible to change the distance between the pinion and the rack by changing the tooth engagement depth between them.
