    摘要: A process of manufacturing a roll suitable for use in a rolling mill, the roll having a cylindrical barrel middle section and a neck at each end of the barrel, wherein the barrel and necks are of different material compositions, by remelting an electrode having a central region corresponding in mass and composition of materials to that desired for the barrel of the roll, two end regions corresponding in mass and composition of materials to that desired for the necks of the roll and a transition region disposed between the central region and each end region, each transition region including the material of the barrel and at least one further material. An electroslag remelting process is used in a water cooled mold. The mold is composed of at least two parts and defines a cavity approximating the final outlines of the roll. The mold has tapered transition regions between a part of the cavity corresponding to the barrel and the constricted cavity regions corresponding to the necks. The roll produced in the remelting step is then heat treated and finished.

    摘要: A wear resistant compound body is disclosed which is comprised of a metallic basic material and has a wear resistant zone which includes hard substance and/or hard metal particles in addition to the basic material. The basic material is composed of0.001 to 1.5 weight percent carbon,0.5 to 8 weight percent boron,1 to 8 weight percent niobium,0.2 to 6 weight percent chromium,0 to 30 weight percent nickel,0 to 10 weight percent manganese,0 to 6 weight percent vanadium,0 to 5 weight percent molybdenum,0 to 5 weight percent silicon, the remainder being iron.Also disclosed is a casting process for producing the compound body.

    摘要: Process and system for the production of very pure alloys. The starting materials are first melted and vacuum treated in an induction crucible inside a vacuum melt system, and then are poured into a second melt crucible, and there brought to casting temperature and held there. An opening beneath the melt in the second melt crucible is used for pouring out the melt. The system for carrying out the process comprises a vacuum melt crucible assembly containing an induction melt crucible and a second melt crucible. The second melt crucible has an orifice in its lower area which is operated by a sealing arrangement. A chamber is arranged underneath the second melt crucible.

    摘要: A process for the production of metallic semi-finished products which contains one or several alloys and has at least two zones with different nitrogen content. An electrode is remelted by pressure electroslag remelting, wherein the remelting process occurs in at least two steps, in each of which differing amounts of nitrogen in the form of solid nitrogen donators are added to the melt, and wherein the pressure produced by a nitrogen- or noble gas-atmosphere is changed from remelting step to remelting step in a range of 5 to 50 bar.
