摘要： The present invention provides a wire guide having a variable stiffness region that may be selectively adjusted to vary the stiffness along a portion of the wire guide. The wire guide generally comprises an outer core member and an inner core member, wherein the inner core member is disposed for longitudinal movement with respect to the outer core member. The outer core member is attached to a proximal end of a coiled member, while the inner core member is attached to the coiled member at an attachment region between proximal and distal ends of the coiled member. In operation, distal advancement of the outer core member with respect to the inner core member causes the coiled member to compress at a location between the proximal end of the coiled member and the attachment region, thereby selectively increasing the stiffness along a portion of the length of the wire guide.

摘要： A medical device including a guiding member and a filter portion is disclosed. The guiding member includes a lumen configured to slidably engage the filter portion. The filter portion forms a tubular geometry that extends distally from the guiding member. The filter portion is configured to evert to form a proximally facing concave geometry for capturing emboli. Further, the filter portion includes filter openings that are sized to allow blood cells to pass therethrough while preventing the passage of emboli.

摘要： A balloon catheter assembly included a catheter provided with a distal end and a proximal end and at least one inflation lumen in the catheter. The inflation lumen includes a distal end and a proximal end. An inflatable balloon is provided at the distal end of the catheter and in fluid communication with the distal end of said inflation lumen. The proximal end of the inflation lumen is able to be coupled to a source of fluid. A flow controller is coupled between the inflation lumen and the fluid source, the flow controller being adjustable by an operator of the balloon catheter assembly so as to adjust the flow of inflation fluid to the balloon. In one embodiment, the flow controller includes a manually operable control actuator and a plurality of discrete flow configurations provided in the form of flow through holes in the flow controller. In another embodiment the flow controller includes a manually operable control actuator and a gradually varying flow passage therethrough by means of a coupling channel within the flow controller of varying channel dimension.

摘要： An occlusion device for occluding a body vessel. The occlusion device includes a first hub extending from a proximal end to a distal end and a tubular wall defining a lumen having a central axis. A plurality of arcuate legs are attached to the first hub and extend distally to a distal portion. The legs extend radially away from the central axis in an open configuration and extend substantially along the central axis in a closed configuration. A biocompatible material is attached to the plurality of legs to form an occlusive barrier when deployed within the body vessel. The biocompatible material either extends along and between each of the plurality of legs or it forms a disk attached to at least one leg.
