    摘要： One aspect of the present invention is a replaceable ink supply cartridge for providing a pressurized supply of ink to an ink-jet printhead of an ink-jet printer. The replaceable ink supply cartridge includes an activation portion for receiving a linear actuator associated with the ink-jet printer. The linear actuator has an activated state and an inactivated state. In the activated state the linear actuator is biased toward an extended position into engagement with the activation portion. In the inactivated state the linear actuator is in a retracted position. The ink supply cartridge portion provides a source of pressurized ink in response to the activated state of the linear actuator. Wherein in response to the inactivated state of the linear actuator the source of pressurized ink is non-pressurized.

    摘要： An ink cartridge has a body comprised of a plurality of wall panels that are resiliently hinged to adjacent wall panels. The wall panels define a cavity within the body for storing ink when the body is in a full configuration. The body collapses from the full configuration to an empty configuration as ink is removed from the body. The wall panels collapse inwardly about the hinges to lie flat against one another to reduce the cavity volume. A frame frames the plurality of wall panels of the body. The frame resiliently expands as the wall panels collapse flat together within the frame. The resilient expansion of the frame and the panel collapse about the hinges biases the body toward the full configuration.

    摘要： An ink supply for an ink-jet printer is provided with a main reservoir, which is typically maintained at ambient pressure. The main reservoir is coupled to a variable volume chamber via a one-way valve which allows the flow of ink from the reservoir to the chamber and prevents the flow of ink from the chamber to the reservoir. The chamber is coupled to a fluid outlet which is normally closed to prevent the flow of ink. However, when the ink supply is installed in a printer, the fluid outlet establishes a fluid connection between the chamber and the printer. The chamber is part of a pump provided with the ink supply that can be actuated to supply ink from the reservoir to the printer.

    摘要： A replaceable pump module for an ink-jet printer is configured to receive a replaceable ink supply including a reservoir having a fluid outlet. The replaceable pump module includes a variable volume chamber having a fluid inlet adapted to form a fluid connection with the fluid outlet of the ink supply reservoir. The variable volume chamber has a check valve which allows the flow of ink from the reservoir to the chamber and limits the flow of ink from the chamber to the reservoir. The replaceable pump module chamber also includes a fluid outlet. When the replaceable pump module is installed in a printer, the pump module fluid outlet establishes a fluid connection between the chamber and a fluid inlet of the printer. The chamber is part of a pump provided with the replaceable pump module that can be actuated to supply ink from the reservoir to the printer.

The reservoir may be coupled to a variable volume chamber via a check valve which allows the flow of ink from the reservoir to the chamber and limits the flow of ink from the chamber to the reservoir. The chamber is coupled to a fluid outlet which is normally closed to prevent the flow of ink. However, when the ink supply is installed in a printer, the fluid outlet establishes a fluid connection between the chamber and the printer. The chamber is part of a pump provided with the ink supply that can be actuated to supply ink from the reservoir to the printer. Alternatively, the reservoir may be coupled directly to the fluid outlet and an alternative method of transferring the ink to the printer provided.
