    摘要： A coaching device and method for providing emergency medical care instructions is shown. The device can include a memory, an audio input, an audio output, a visual display, and a processor. The memory stores a file set made up of multiple question files. The question files include audio data representing a spoken question, at least one valid answer proposed for the question, and visual material. The visual material can be a text version of the question or a valid answer or a visual illustration of the subject matter of the question. Each question file is linked with at least one other question file. A program manages the question files by playing a question, detecting a spoken valid answer to the spoken question, and loading another question file linked to the detected answer. The modular set of interrelated questions provides the rescuer with highly interactive instructions.

    摘要： Apparatus used to create storage space on the outside of a backpack and method for using such apparatus are described. The storage apparatus comprises a restraining device configured to store items on the outside of a backpack and an assembly for connecting the restraining device to a backpack. This assembly contains a grasping device and a connection device removably attached to the grasping device so that the fabric of the backpack is retained between the grasping device and the connection device. Items can then be stored on the outside of the backpack under the restraining device or the items can be attached to the restraining device itself. Using the connection assembly, the restraining device can be quickly attached to a wide variety of locations on the backpack and can be used with a wide variety of types, sizes, and shapes of backpacks. Other embodiments are also described.

    摘要： The present invention provides a battery powered, hand-held signaling device having an illuminated display capable of selectively displaying illuminated indicia including the words “STOP”, “SLOW” and “GO”. The illuminated indicia are preferably color-coded, whereby the word “STOP” is displayed in illuminated red letters, the word “GO” is displayed in illuminated green letters, and the word “SLOW” is illuminated in yellow letters thereby maximizing recognition by an observer, such as the driver of an approaching vehicle. Selection of a particular message to be displayed is accomplished by user actuation of suitable electrical switching circuitry. In alternate embodiments, the device may be adapted for displaying a host of other illuminated messages, such as “TURN RIGHT,” “TURN LEFT,” “PARK,” etc.
