    摘要: A diverter for receiving printed products in a single stream and diverting the printed products into a plurality of streams is provided. The diverter includes a first rotating body rotating about a first axis and including first, second and third circumferential sections positioned around the first axis. Each circumferential section of the first rotating body extends radially a different distance from the first axis. The diverter also includes a second rotating body rotating about a second axis and including first, second and third circumferential sections positioned around the second axis. Each circumferential section of the second rotating body extends radially a different distance from the second axis. The first and second rotating bodies divert the printed products into three separate streams at a diverting area between the first and second axes. The diverter also includes a steeple positioned downstream of the diverting area. A method for diverting printed products in a folder, a printing press, a method for adjusting a diverter and a steeple for a diverter are also provided.

    摘要: An apparatus for transporting folded signatures is provided which includes a first roller and a second roller forming a first nip with the first roller. The first and second rollers each have a compressible outer layer, and are rotatable about respective axes. Preferably, the compressible outer later comprises a microcellular foam. The apparatus also includes a plurality of first transport tapes passing through the first nip and a plurality of second transport tapes passing through the first nip. The plurality of second transport tapes are wrapped at least partially around the second roller so that a signature transported between the first and second transport tapes between the first nip undergoes a change in transport direction as it is transported at least partially around the second roller. Preferably, the signatures enter the first nip perpendicular to a plane passing through the axes of the first and second rollers.

    摘要: A web-up system is provided for a web-fed printing press, the web fed printing press having a plurality of components including a slitter mechanism. The web-up system includes either or both a web-up device and a ribbon winder. The web-up device is located adjacent to an output of a first component of the web-fed printing press, the first component located upstream from the slitter mechanism. The web-up device includes a splicing mechanism and a secondary web roll rotatably mounted on a shaft. The splicing mechanism receives a first web of material from the first component, receives a second web of material from the secondary web roll, splices the first web of material to the second web of material, and outputs a spliced web of material to the next downstream component of the press, e.g., the slitter mechanism. The ribbon winder is coupled to an output of the slitter mechanism. The slitter mechanism slits the web of material into at least a first and second ribbon. The ribbon winder includes a roller for receiving the second ribbon. The roller maintains a substantially constant tension in the second ribbon by winding said second ribbon around an outer surface of the roller.

    摘要: A positive control signature transferring assembly, for use in a lower folder, transports and diverts signatures under positive control. The assembly has a first positive control deceleration device having grippers for transporting some of the signatures of a stream of signatures to a first delivery stream. The assembly has a gripper cylinder containing a plurality of grippers for gripping a leading edge and a trailing edge of each of the remaining signatures in the signature stream for transporting the signatures on the gripper cylinder. A second positive control deceleration device has grippers for transporting the remaining signatures released by the gripper cylinder to a second delivery stream. In this manner, the signatures are positively controlled at all times and alignment and fixed pitch errors are significantly reduced.

    摘要: A stream of signatures is delivered by a conveyer belt to an angled conveyer. The angled conveyor grips a set of signatures from the stream. The gripped set of signatures is transported by the angled conveyer to a third conveyer belt, and deposited on the third conveyer belt. By transporting the set of signatures at an angle, a lateral offset between the individual signatures within the set of signatures is created. A diverter on the third conveyer belt grips the laterally offset signatures, separating the signatures into substreams.
