    摘要: A curable formaldehyde-free phenolic resin having formula (I): ##STR1## wherein a and b each represent an integer equal to or greater than 1, a+b multiplied by n is an integer of about 3 to 100; ##STR2## m is 0 or 1; and R is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl having about 1 to 12 carbon atoms, aryl having about 6 to 12 carbon atoms, allyl having 3 or 4 carbon atoms, aralkyl having about 7 to 13 carbon atoms, alkaryl having about 7 to 13 carbon atoms, alkoxy having about 1 to 4 carbon atoms, aryloxy having about 6 to 12 carbon atoms, or ##STR3## and methods for preparing such resin are described.

    摘要: The present invention provides a process for forming microcapsules having discrete capsule walls. An emulsion of an oily core material in a continuous aqueous phase containing a polymeric anionic emulsifier, a free radical addition polymerizable cationic monomer and a free-radical initiator is formed. Particles of the oily core material are enwrapped in a polymerizate of the cationic monomer produced by polymerization of the cationic monomer.

    摘要: A carboxyl-containing phenolic resin represented by the formula: ##STR1## where n is 0 to 100, the phenolic units of the resin being directly bonded to one another through positions ortho or para to the OZ group; Z is selected from the group consisting of H and the residue of a mono or dianhydride, said mono or dianhydride having been reacted with a hydroxy group of a phenolic resin; and Y is present at a position meta or para to the OZ group and is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, a halogen atom, an aryl group, a phenylalkyl group, an alkyl group, a carboxyl group of the formula--COOR where R is H, an alkyl group or a phenylalkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, and an amino group of the formula--NR.sub.1 R.sub.2 where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and represent H or an alkyl group.
