摘要： An environmentally friendly, formaldehyde-free, aqueous binder composition that includes a carbohydrate, a crosslinking agent, and a pre-reacted product of an alcohol or polyol and monomeric or polymeric polycarboxylic acid or polyglycerol is provided. The pre-reacted product may include glycerol and esters of citric acid such a monoglyceryl citrate, diglyceryl citrate, and triglyceryl citrate as well as other higher molecular weight citric acid-based esters. The inclusion of the pre-reacted product in the binder composition helps to speed the crosslinking reaction, induces faster water evaporation, decreases the viscosity of the binder, helps to reduce the amount of water needed for application of the binder, decreases tackiness, and helps to achieve a maximum vertical expansion of the insulation pack in the transfer zone. The binder composition may be used in the formation of insulation materials and non-woven chopped strand mats.

摘要： A hot-melt warp yarn size composition and a method for applying, desizing, and disposing of it which essentially eliminates atmospheric and water pollution at all stages of the process. The size is a melt blend of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer with microcrystalline, paraffin, or hydrogenated tallow wax. It is applied as a melt to warp yarn, desized with hot petroleum solvent, and the extracted size and unrecovered solvent burned to non-polluting carbon dioxide and water.

摘要： A process for modifying a fibrous product containing cellulosic fibers which comprises treating said fibrous product with a solution or dispersion containing a particular acrylic copolymer having a glycidyl group and an alkylene oxide sidechain, drying the fibrous product; and heat-treating it in the presence of an acid catalyst at a temperature sufficient to cleave the oxirane linkage of the glycidyl group. This process can impart superior dry and wet crease resistances, shrinkage resistance and wash and wear properties and also soil removing ability, resistance to redeposition, water absorption and water penetrability to fibrous products containing cellulosic fibers while retaining their mechanical strength characterics.
