摘要: The invention relates to a composition comprising a colloid which is stable under physiological pH and ionic strength, said colloid comprising particles having a silica core and a shell: a) wherein said shell comprises a cross-linked poly(ethylene)imine polymer having amine functionalities; b) wherein the particles have a volume-weighted mean particle size diameter of less than 200 nm, and c) wherein greater than 50% of said polymer in the colloid is bound to the core surfaces, wherein the polymer having amine functionalities has an average molecular weight less than 100,000 g/mol, the composition has a H of between 6 and 8; and d) wherein the colloid contains between 300 and 6000 .μmol amine-monomer/g core particles.

摘要: This invention relates to a method of making a composition comprising a colloid comprising particles having a colloidal silica core and a shell, said method comprising the steps of: simultaneously introducing into a vessel a first liquid stream containing silica core particles, a second liquid stream containing a polymer having amine functionalities; and a third liquid stream having a pH adjusting substance such that said vessel is maintained at a pH below 6.0, and followed by readjusting the pH of the colloid to a pH between about 7-10; the addition of a cross-linking reagent, and adjusting the pH of the colloid to approximately physiological conditions, wherein the core-shell colloid contains between 10 and 30 μmol amine-monomer/m2 core surface area.

摘要: In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a photographic element is described comprising a support bearing one or more hydrophilic colloid layers including at least one photographic silver halide emulsion layer, wherein sequestered silver ions are incorporated into at least one hydrophilic colloid layer in the form of a silver ion containing material which sequesters silver ions prior to photographic processing and releases silver ions upon exposure to photographic processing solutions. Method for preparing and processing such photographic element are also described. In accordance with particular embodiments of the invention, the silver ion containing material comprises a silver ion-exchanged zeolite material or an intercalation composition comprising a layered host material having silver ions inserted as guest ions between the layers of the host material. The invention provides novel photographic materials and a method of incorporating silver ions directly into a photographic imaging element with improved stability and keeping response. The incorporation of silver ion containing materials into a photographic element in accordance with the invention enables increased upper scale density without excessive build-up of fog in the system.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system comprising photopolymerizable composites and an associated light polymerization device. The composite comprises a photopolymerizable resin and a luminophore, and optionally inorganic fillers and a photobleaching agent. The polymerization device comprises a light source and a photodetector. The composite and the device are coupled via a feedback loop to indicate the degree of polymerization, or to indicate that polymerization is complete. The invention relates to any photopolymerizable composite or coating including industrial, protective, biomedical and dental composites and coatings.

摘要: A silver ion sequester and release agent is described which comprises a silver ion exchangeable material of the formula: M(H1−x−yAgxM′yPO4)2.nH2O; where M is Zr, Ti, Sn, Ge or Hf or any combination thereof; M′ is an Alkali or alkaline earth metal; x is a number from 0.10 to 0.80; y is a number from 0.15 to 0.85; (x+y) is a number from 0.25 to 0.95; and n is a rational number between 0 and 10. Processes for preparing such silver ion sequester and release agent material are also described comprising combining in an aqueous medium a crystalline or amorphous metal hydrogen phosphate ion exchange host material of the formula M(HPO4)2.nH2O with less than 2 molar equivalents of silver ions relative to the amount of ion exchange host material such that silver ions are exchanged for protons in the host material, and adding a base compound to the aqueous medium to achieve a pH of at least 4.4 and sequester at least 95% of the combined silver ions into the host material. Further described are photographic elements comprising a support bearing one or more hydrophilic colloid layers including at least one photographic silver halide emulsion layer, wherein one or more layers contain such a silver ion sequester and release agent which sequesters silver ions prior to photographic processing and releases silver ions upon exposure to photographic processing solutions.
