Abstract: A multiphase flow calibration semi-closed loop system includes an oil-gas-water separation unit, a multiphase flow calibration unit, a single phase flow calibration section, a gas flow section, a flow data acquisition unit, and a programmable logic controller (PLC). The system is designed to have a two-step calibration process. In a first step, single phase water flow meters and single phase oil flow meters of the system are calibrated independently. In a second step, multiphase flow meters or multiphase water cut meters are calibrated using the pre-calibrated water flow meter, pre-calibrated oil flow meter, and the pre-calibrated gas flow meter. In doing so, the oil-gas-water separation unit, the multiphase flow calibration unit, the single phase flow calibration section, and the gas flow section communicate with the flow data acquisition unit providing real time data. Thus, the PLC connected to the flow data acquisition unit can perform the required calibration processes.

Abstract: A closed loop system for the calibration of a multiphase meter, such as a multiphase flow meter or water cut meter, and a method of employing the system in calibration of multiphase meters in crude oil production processes. The system includes an oil and water separation vessel, oil and water flow meters, valves, pumps, and a single phase calibration unit. The system employs a two-step calibration process. First internal single phase oil and water meters are calibrated using the single phase calibration unit; subsequently multiphase meter calibration is achieved using the two precalibrated single phase flow meters.

Abstract: The system for measuring multi-phase fluid flow characteristics is an on-site system for measuring and calculating fluid density of a multi-phase fluid, such as a mixture of oil and water, as well as a water cut thereof. The system for measuring multi-phase fluid flow characteristics includes a conduit having a lower inlet and an upper outlet. The lower inlet is adapted for direct connection to an oil pipeline, an oil well, or the like for receiving the multi-phase fluid flowing therethrough. The conduit defines a pressure monitoring portion having opposing ends. First and second impulse lines connect first and second gauge pressure transmitters and a differential pressure transmitter to the opposing ends to measure total pressure drop and frictional pressure differential to an external controller, which calculates the fluid density and the water cut therefrom The system may also include temperature and volumetric flow rate sensors.

Abstract: A lightweight structural concrete formulation comprises a wet mix of about 460 kg/m3 of cementitious material such as ordinary Portland cement of which about 50 percent has been replaced by ground granulated basic furnace slag (GGBFS) and 7 percent by silica fume (SF) in other words the mix introduces between about 178 and 228 kg/m3 therefore the combination is good to produce secondary reaction products when the cement hydrates which produces secondary calcium silicate hydrate (C—S—H) which makes the structure dense and thereby increases its mechanical durability characteristics of the concrete product. Possible ratios of GGBFS and SF are 30-70 percent and 5-10 percent, respectively. By making the structures dense increases the mechanical and durability characteristics of the concrete product. Other ratios have been made including GGBFS of 30-70 percent and silica fume 5-10 percent, respectively. It can be noted that the silica fume was added to the mixture as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) not as an aggregate. It should also be noted that the particle sizes of GGBFS ranges between about 20-40 mm and that of silica fume is less than 20 mm.

Abstract: An online multi-phase flow meter for continuously and accurately measuring the volumetric quantities of gas, oil, and water flowing concurrently in a conventional feed pipeline, such as an oil well pipeline or a transport pipeline. The online multi-phase flow meter includes: an inlet pipe; an exit pipe; a cylindrical gas separation unit that is connected to the inlet pipe; a gas measuring system; an oil and water measuring system; a slurry collection system; a maintenance system; an electronic controller and solenoid valve for maintaining a minimum liquid level in the cylindrical gas separation unit; and a data acquisition system comprising a microprocessor. Also, a method for continuously and accurately measuring the volumetric quantities of a multi-phase mixture containing gas, oil, and water with the online multi-phase flow meter.
