An information processing apparatus includes a display, a position detector that detects a position in a display surface of the display and a hardware processor. The hardware processor, in response to detection of the position with which an object has been in contact, detects a portable device; establishes a communication path with the portable device; detects a continuation state based on a state of the portable device or a state of the information processing apparatus; in the case where the communication path is established with the portable device, and the portable device is detected, switches to a cooperation mode; in the case where the portable device is no longer detected, if the continuation state is detected, maintains the cooperation mode; and in the case where the portable device is no longer detected, if the continuation state is not detected, switches from the cooperation mode to the single mode.

An information processing apparatus includes an input portion for a user to enter information, the input portion including a first input portion, and a second input portion with which information being entered is hard to be seen by a person around the user as compared with the first input portion. The information processing apparatus also includes a determination portion configured to determine whether or not entry target information to be entered by the user is sensitive. The information processing apparatus further includes a call portion configured to, prior to entry of the entry target information, call the first input portion when the determination portion determines that the entry target information is not sensitive, and call the second input portion when the determination portion determines that the entry target information is sensitive.

A first display screen in a first display mode includes an icon display area displaying icons arranged in a predetermined direction and corresponding to function buttons for setting each function, and a first function button display area displaying some of the function buttons corresponding to some of the icons specified by a range specification unit. The function buttons are classified into groups according to their function attribute.
