Abstract:
Methods and apparatus related to controlling illumination on a lighting unit (10). The method includes reading orientation data from an orientation sensor (17) on the lighting unit as well as reading distance data from a distance sensor (15) on the lighting unit. A controller (63) is provided to control various light output surfaces (12) on the lighting unit. Once the controller determines the orientation of the lighting unit as well as distance data of the lighting unit from external structures or luminaire structures, the controller adjusts various light output characteristics of the lighting unit. The method may additionally include a memory storage which allows the controller to compare read data with stored data to determine an associated light fixture type for automated commissioning. Alternatively, the lighting unit can reconfigure itself to output light in various orientations based upon said read data.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to assisting a user in selecting a lighting device (204) design by providing a lighting device (204) design based on a model or image of a lighting device (204) design (e.g. the user uploading an image of an existing lighting device in his/her home (200)). The lighting device (204) design of the model or image is analyzed in order to determine a lighting device (204) design related variable (e.g. type, shape or color of lighting device design). This variable is then used to select a lighting device (204) design from a set of lighting device (204) designs (e.g. to select a lighting device (204) design of the same color, from an electronic catalogue of lighting device designs); or to generate a lighting device (204) design (e.g. to generate a lighting device design that is a copy of the lighting device design in the image, only smaller and in a different color). The invention further includes a system and computer program product for implementation of this method.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to assisting a user in selecting a lighting device (408) design through receiving an image of a scene, e.g. the user taking a picture using his/her smartphone of his/her living room (410) and analyzing this image in order to select or generate a lighting device (408) design. The analysis can comprise determining the presence of a pattern, material or color in the scene and a lighting device (408) design can be selected (e.g. from an electronic catalogue) that comprises a similar pattern, material or color. As another example, a lighting device (408) design can be generated to match such a pattern, material or color. The invention further comprises a system and computer program product for implementation of this method.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for configuring a lighting fixture in a virtual environment. The methods and apparatus may enable a user to directly or indirectly manipulate a virtual lighting effect in a virtual environment and be presented with virtual representations of one or more lighting fixtures that correspond to producible lighting fixtures that are capable of producing the manipulated lighting effect.
Abstract:
A non-transparent light-emitting construction element (100; 200; 300; 400), comprising: a construction element having a mounting side and a user-facing side (104; 204; 304) to be facing a user when the light-emitting construction element is used in a construction; and a light-emitter (108; 404) embedded in the construction element, wherein the light-emitter is embedded in the construction element in such a way that the light-emitter is non-visible in its off-state and light from the light-emitter escapes from the construction element when the light-emitter is in its on-state.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to suggesting a lighting device (408) design to a user, such as in an advertisement for a lighting device design. The suggestion is based on acquiring user interest information relating to the user from a data source such as an online user profile. A lighting device (408) design related variable (e.g. intensity, colour temperature) is determined based on the acquired user interest information using, for example, a lookup table or rules. A lighting device (408) design is then provided (e.g. selected or generated) based on the lighting device design related variable and an image (410) of the provided lighting device (408) design is displayed.
