Abstract: In a case where a standard authentication system is being connected to an image forming device, a cooperation processing unit of the image forming device uses a set value managed by a set value management unit thereby to cooperate with the standard authentication system. In a case where an extension authentication system is being connected to the image forming device, the cooperation processing unit of the image forming device uses a set value managed by a set value management service, which is an extension service that provides a function other than a standard function of the electronic device, thereby to cooperate with the extension authentication system. A program for the cooperation processing unit and a program for the set value management unit are included in firmware of the image forming device. A set value management program for the set value management service is not included in the firmware.

Abstract: When a first image forming apparatus 1 cannot perform printing based on a print instruction from a user, the first image forming apparatus 1 (a1) makes a substitution printing request to a second image forming apparatus 2 and (a2) receives a temporary authentication ID from this second image forming apparatus 2 and notifies the user of it if the user is not managed by an authentication server 4 that manages this second image forming apparatus 2. If the user is not managed by the authentication server 4 and not authenticated when receiving the substitution printing request, the second image forming apparatus 2 (b1) requests the authentication server 4 to issue the authentication ID, (b2) receives the authentication ID and notifies the apparatus 1 of it, and (b3) receives a user inputted authentication ID and performs the printing if the inputted authentication ID is identical to the received one.

Abstract: To provide an image forming system, an image forming device, a mobile communication terminal, and a relay server, all of which are interrelated to each other such that the mobile communication terminal is capable of remotely controlling the image forming device without having to conduct a confirmation of the image forming device. When a user changes a setting value through a setting value operation screen that appears on an operation panel, the mobile communication terminal transmits a setting value change demand notification including the changing setting value to the relay server. The relay server compares the preceding setting value to a setting value of the image forming device that the relay server stores currently to detect a setting value of the image forming device which is to be rewritten. The relay server rewrites the resulting setting value.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a storage section, an operating section, an assignment and management section, a press detecting section, and a display processing section. The storage section stores settings of a plurality of paper feed cassettes accommodating paper. The operating section has a plurality of operation keys to be pressed for inputting operation. The assignment and management section assigns the paper feed cassettes to the different operation keys to manage the respective paper feed cassettes. The press detecting section detects press of any of the operation keys. The display processing section displays, during the time when any of the operation keys is kept pressed, a setting check screen showing the settings of the paper feed cassette assigned to the operation key being pressed.
