摘要： An emergency sump pump is employed in a sump from which the liquid is normally removed by a main pump. The main pump turns on when the liquid rises to an upper level and turns off when the liquid drops to a lower level. The emergency pump has a vertical intake conduit which opens at the bottom below the lower level. This conduit is surrounded by a tube which has openings in areas below the lower level and above the upper level. The tube is solid between those two levels and also is solid above the upper area of openings.

摘要： A protection column is employed about a sump pump to exclude liquid and foreign matter in the sump from entering the pump interior until a time just prior to priming and activation of the pump. The column has a closed bottom portion serving as a vessel and permitting the column to float as the liquid level rises in the sump. The upper part of the column fits about the pump to act as a guide and has a series of vertical slots. The column floats until the bottom of the column strikes the bottom of the sump pump, which prevents the column from rising further. As the water level continues to rise in the sump, water enters the column through the slots, causing the column to sink to the bottom of the sump and permitting the liquid to rise to a level in the pump commensurate with the level elsewhere in the sump, thereby priming the pump.

摘要： A sump motor is mounted in a section of pipe. The motor is a standard motor having special caps at each end of the motor shell and with the shell forming a waterproof enclosure. The caps have radially extending spacers extending out to the pipe. At each end of the pipe are reducers, the internal diameter of the small ends of which correspond to the external diameter of another, smaller standard pipe size. At the bottom a piece of pipe of the smaller size extends inwardly of the reducer to a location in juxtaposition to the pump impeller. Various connections and mounting arrangements may be made using standard sizes of pipe. In one embodiment the pump is mounted on a vertical track and positioned above a sump. When the water rises to a level in the sump at which pumping should commence, the motor is energized and the pump is lowered along the track into the sump.

A vertical riser is located outside the structure, extending from above the ground to a subterranean location proximate a footing drain. A well collector extends downwardly from the vertical riser, having a series of ingress slots to allow water to flow therethrough. A submergible torpedo pump is located in the well collector, and upper and lower pump activation controls deactivate and activate the pump depending on the water level in the vertical riser. A over level pump activation is provided, as well, in case the upper level pump activation fails.

摘要： The cover of a ceiling mounted smoke detector is hung at one side by a chain from the detector frame. At the other side the cover has a clip which engages the smoke detector battery. Thus if the battery is not in place the cover hangs down from the chain providing a signal indicative of the absence of the battery. A flag is provided which is pivotally mounted inside the cover and movable on the pivot through an opening in the bottom of the cover. A magnet attached to the flag magnetically engages the diaphragm of the horn alarm in the smoke detector and maintains the flag at a raised position within the cover. When the horn alarm is sounded, the vibration of the diaphragm causes disengagement of the magnet whereupon the flag pivots downwardly to a position at which it extends below the cover. This provides a visual indication that the horn alarm has been sounded.

The restrictor has a restrictor housing having a passage through which a pressure source has a portion which passes on its way to a pressure-actuated switch. A restrictor is provided for engaging the portion of the pressure source passing through the restrictor housing and is adjustable to variably alter fluid flow through the pressure source portion. The restrictor comprises a screw-like plug in the pressure source portion which is acted upon by a tube throttle to variably alter the passageway past the plug. A gauge may be provided for determining adjustment of fluid flow.

摘要： An improved sump pump apparatus of submersible nature of the type in which a pump impeller is located above an intake opening for drawing sump water through the intake opening and expelling the same through a pump discharge connection. The pump impeller is immediately adjacent the top of the intake opening, the top of the intake opening including a lubricating surface and the impeller being positioned as closely as possible to the top. A debris trap is situated within the pump beneath the intake opening to capture small debris, such as sand and stones, which are drawn into the pump by the impeller. Air relief means is located the discharge outlet for the sump pump in particular situations.

摘要： A plastic vessel forming a float is secured to one end of a plastic tube. The other end of the tube is fixedly mounted and intermediate the ends is a hinge section. Two mercury switches are positioned in the vessel at different angles of inclination with respect to the axis of the vessel so that as the vessel pivots about the hinge with variations in the level of the liquid upon which the vessel floats, the switches close at different positions of the float. The angle of inclination of one of the mercury switches is adjustable.
