摘要: The present invention relates to a process for extracting polyhydroxyalkanoate from a biomass, comprising contacting the biomass with an organic solvent for a time, at a first temperature, and under a pressure that are sufficient to extract polyhydroxyalkanoate from the biomass to provide a composition comprising the organic solvent and polyhydroxyalkanoate; cooling the composition at a second temperature, which is at least about 10° C. lower than the first temperature; and mixing the composition at a second temperature with a power to volume ratio of from about 0.001 KW/m3 to about 100 KW/m3.

摘要: Improved processes for extracting polyhydroxyalkanoate from a biomass containing the polyhydroxyalkanoate including the steps of: combining the biomass containing the polyhydroxyalkanoate with a solvent selected from lower chain ketones, and mixtures thereof to form a biomass liquor wherein the biomass liquor comprises less than about 25% water; mixing the biomass liquor for from about 10 to about 300 minutes at a temperature in the range of from about 70° C. to about 120° C.; separating the polyhydroxyalkanoate from the biomass liquor to form a PHA-enriched liquor, wherein the separating occurs at a temperature of at least about 40° C.; mixing the PHA-enriched liquor with water to form precipitated polyhydroxyalkanoate and an impure solvent liquor, wherein the water is mixed with the PHA enriched liquor in the ratio of from at least about 0.4-1 parts of water to one part solvent; and recovering the precipitated polyhydroxyalkanoate from the impure solvent liquor. Optional treatment with oxidizing agents or mild surfactant or mild bleach is used to enhance color and odor.

摘要: A sealing member for sealing a pool fixture to a vinyl pool liner and a method of using the same. The sealing member includes inner and outer frame members, one of which includes a channel and the other includes a projection complementary to the channel. A bead of sealing material is provided one of in the channel and on the projection. When the inner and outer frame members are engaged with each other, the projection is received in the channel and a portion of the pool liner retained thereinbetween is maintained in contact with the sealing material.

摘要: Systems and methods for determining an optimal range of frequencies of electromagnetic waves are described. In some embodiments, mobile voice communications devices measure average power received from certain ranges of such frequencies, each range associated with a communications service provider. A cost may be associated with each range. An optimal range of frequencies may be determined based on these factors. Each device may also receive a set of data identifying the location of the device. Each device may transmit one or more communications signals to a CIP with such measurements and location information, and some of this information may be stored in a database.

摘要: The present disclosure describes systems and apparatus for detecting an impending sewer backup by detecting fluid undulations of predetermined magnitude inside a main body of a backwater valve. When at least a predetermined number of fluid undulations of predetermined magnitude are detected within a predetermined time period, an alarm can be triggered. Such undulations can be detected by monitoring a buoyant gate in a normally-open backwater valve to detecting instances of movement of the gate from a lowered position in which fluid flow from an inlet through the backwater valve is unobstructed by the gate toward but stopping short of a raised position in which the gate closes the inlet to obstruct fluid flow through the valve. For example, a sensor can be carried on the gate to detect movement of the gate. Alternatively, fluid levels inside the main body can be monitored directly.
