摘要: A process for efficiently forming a thick coating layer having a uniform thickness on the surface of a base material having a curved surface. The process comprises the steps of forming a coating film having a predetermined thickness by applying a coating agent containing a polymerizable monomer on the curved surface of a base material, and then curing the coating film in an atmosphere of an oxygen concentration of not more than 500 ppm by photo-polymerization while substantially maintaining the uniformity of the thickness of the coating film. Preferably, the photo-polymerization of the coating film is carried out while rotating the base material at a rotational speed of from 20 to 1500 rpm.

摘要: A curable composition comprising (1) 0.1 to 20 parts by weight of a silicon compound having a silanol group or a functional group for forming a silanol group upon hydrolysis and no radically polymerizable group, such as γ-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, (2) 100 parts by weight of radically polymerizable monomers and (3) 0.01 to 20 parts by weight of a photochromic compound, wherein the radically polymerizable monomers include a radically polymerizable monomer having an epoxy group in the molecule, such as glycidyl methacrylate. This curable composition is capable of forming a photochromic coating layer which shows excellent photochromic properties such as high color development density and fast fading rate, is free from the dissolution of the photochromic compound, exhibits high adhesion to a substrate through a simple pre-treatment and has excellent hard coating applicability.

摘要: A method of preparing a sulfur-containing compound having at least one thio group in the molecules by reacting a thiol compound with an organic compound having at least one functional group capable of forming a thio group in the molecules upon reacting with a mercapto group in the presence of a basic compound, wherein the number of moles of water contained in the reaction system is set to be not larger than 7.5 times as large as the number of moles obtained by multiplying the number of moles of the thiol compound to be reacted by a number of mercapto groups present in one molecule of the thiol compound.

摘要: A curable composition which provides a coating layer having high adhesion to a substrate and a hard coat layer and extremely excellent photochromic properties such as high color development intensity, high fading speed and excellent durability. This composition comprises (1) 100 parts by weight of radically polymerizable monomers including a silyl monomer such as γ-methacryloyloxypropyl trimethoxysilane and/or an isocyanate monomer such as 2-isocyanatoethoxy methacrylate, (2) 0.01 to 20 parts by weight of an amine compound and (3) 0.01 to 20 parts by weight of a photochromic compound. A photochromic optical material having excellent adhesion between a photochromic coating layer and a resin substrate and obtained by using this composition as a coating material and a process for producing the photochromic optical material.

摘要: There is provided a coating composition which can be applied to a substrate such as a plastic lens so as to form a photochromic coating layer having good photochromic properties and excellent adhesion to the substrate on the surface of the substrate. This composition comprises, for example, as monomer components, 0.1 to 20 wt % of monomer having a group which produces a silanol group through hydrolysis such as γ-methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane and 0.1 to 50 wt % of monomer having at least one oxycarbonyl group in a molecule. The composition can further contain a maleimide compound as a monomer component and further desirably contains an amine compound.

摘要: A coating agent composition obtained by mixing fine inorganic oxide particles, a polymerizable alkoxysilane compound, a polymerizing catalyst, an acid aqueous solution and an organic solvent, and satisfying the following conditions (1) to (3): (1) the polymerizing catalyst is at least partly an acetylacetonato complex; (2) a β-dicarbonyl compound (excluding acetylacetonato complex) having two carbonyl groups in the molecule via a carbon atom, is further contained as a catalyst stabilizer; and (3) the fine inorganic oxide particles and the alkoxysilane compound are contained in a total amount of 23 to 40% by mass. The coating agent composition is capable of forming a cured film having excellent properties such as abrasion resistance on the surfaces of plastic ophthalmic lens through the curing conducted at a low temperature for a short period of time, and does not affect the color tone of the lens material even when it is directly applied to the surfaces of the plastic lens material that contains a coloring matter, such as sunglass lenses.

摘要: A method of producing a laminate comprising preparing a substrate having curved surfaces; applying a photopolymerizable and curable composition containing a photochromic compound and a phosphorus-containing photopolymerization initiator onto the curved surfaces of the base member; and curing the photopolymerizable and curable composition by the irradiation with an active energy ray having a relative intensity profile of 0 to 5% of wavelength components of not shorter than 200 nm but shorter than 300 nm, 25 to 75% of wavelength components of not shorter than 300 nm but shorter than 400 nm and 25 to 75% of wavelength components of not shorter than 400 nm but not longer than 500 nm while maintaining the substrate at not higher than 100° C. This method makes it possible to form a homogeneous and thin film containing a photochromic compound at a high concentration and having a uniform thickness on the substrate having a curved surface, such as a spectacle lens that is generally available, and to impart photochromic properties while maintaining excellent mechanical and optical properties of the substrate.

摘要: A process for producing a composition comprising (A) a metal oxide sol containing an amine compound, such as diisopropylamine, (B) a polycondensable silicon compound having an epoxy group, such as γ-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, and (C) a curing catalyst such as tris(2,4-pentanedionato)aluminum (III), the process comprising the steps of: mixing the component (A) with the component (B) at a temperature of 10° C. or higher and lower than 40° C. for 6 hours or longer; and mixing the obtained mixture with the above component (C). There is provided a process for producing the coating composition to provide a hard coat which has excellent adhesion, scratch resistance, solvent resistance and weatherability when it is applied to the surface of a synthetic resin lens and is free from fine holes or depressions on the surface, particularly a hard coat having a high refractive index.
