摘要: At least part of a reflector surface covering a rod-shaped light source is a continuous body having such a shape that in a plane perpendicular to the central axis of the rod-shaped light source, a ray emitted from a light emitting point on the surface of the rod-shaped light source in the tangential direction going away from a light conducting plate is reflected back to the vicinity of the light emitting point. According to another aspect, at least part of a reflector surface covering a rod-shaped light source located between the rod-shaped light source and the light conducting plate is part of a parabola whose focus is substantially located on the side face of the light conducting plate in a plane perpendicular to the central axis of the rod-shaped light source.

摘要: A light reflector covers a linear light source that is disposed adjacent to a light incident end face of a light conducting plate. The interval between the end portions of the light reflector adjacent to the light incident end face of the light conducting plate is made smaller than the thickness of the light incident end face. Alternatively, the light-exit-side portion of the light reflector located between the linear light source and the light incident end face of the light conducting plate is disposed within the thickness of the light incident end face.

摘要: In a backlighting device for use with display panels that comprises a light conducting plate made of a light-transmissive material, one of the major faces of said light conducting plate being provided with a light diffusing capability and covered with a specular or light diffusing/reflecting plate, and a linear light source provided in proximity to the end portion of at least one side of said light conducting plate, the improvement wherein at least one sheet that is made of a light-transmissive material and that has a multiple of raised structures having straight ridgelines at minute intervals on the same side in such a manner that the ridgelines are substantially parallel to one another or at least one sheet that is made of a light-transmissive material and that has a multiple of pyramidal or conical projecting structures at minute intervals on the same side, said projecting structures having portions of such a shape that the vertical angles are substantially the same, is provided on the exit face of the light conducting plate in such a way that either type of structures face outward.

摘要: A linear light source is disposed adjacent to the side face of a transparent light conducting plate. The thickness of the light conducting plate decreases as the position goes away from the light source. Light diffusing elements are formed on the major surface of the light conducting plate opposite to its light exit surface. At least one transparent sheet has, on the same surface thereof, a number of prisms having straight ridges that are arranged substantially parallel with each other at small intervals. The transparent sheet is disposed on the side of the light exit surface of the light conducting plate so that extensions of the straight ridges intersect the light source substantially perpendicularly.

摘要: A backlighting device for use with display panels has a plurality of light diffusing elements formed in dots or stripes on one of the two major faces of a light conducting plate that is made of a light-transmissive material. The device also has a linear light source provided in proximity to the end portion of at least one side of the light conducting plate. In the device, at least one sheet that is made of a light-transmissive material and which has a multiple of prisms or raised structures having straight ridgelines defined by the apices and minima of the raised structures at small intervals on the same side of the sheet. The sheet is arranged in such a manner that the ridgelines are substantially parallel to one another and is located on an exit face of the light conducting plate in such a way that the straight ridgelines intersect that sides of the major face of the light conducting plate or intersect imaginary lines or stripes that would be drawn when the light diffusing elements are formed on the light conducting plate.

摘要: In a back lighting device for a side light type panel, one end portion of a specular or light diffusing/reflecting film covering a linear light source is bonded to one end portion of a light conducting plate which is on the side of its light emerging surface and is in proximity of the linear light source, and a light diffusing/reflecting film is laid through an air layer on the part of the rear surface of the light conducting plate which corresponds to the junction. The back lighting device of the invention is small in size, large in effective light emitting area when compared with its external dimensions, and excellent in the distribution of luminance. Hence, it can be used as a back light device that is highly efficient in converting power to luminance.
